I was looking through some of our old Father’s Day crafts and came across this sweet one our youngest son, Ethan, made when he was in preschool. I just had to share it again! It’s a two-sided DIY fingerprint tie that kids can make—and Dad can wear. 😉

MATERIALS:
- 2 sheets of cardstock paper (white)
- Washable Paint (This is only if you want to use paint to make real “fingerprints”; If not, you could use markers to make dots or those dotters they sell at the store to make dots).
- Marker (to write on the back)
- Picture of your child (or your child with his/her Dad)
- Glue (to glue the two ties together)
- Yarn (to hold it onto Dad’s neck)
- Non-heat laminating sheets. (You can buy these at Walmart. I used the AVERY brand. Affiliate links included)

INSTRUCTIONS:
- Stack the two sheets of cardstock and cut out a tie shape—you’ll end up with two identical ties.
- On the first tie, write “I LOVE YOU, DAD” with a marker and glue the photo at the bottom.
- On the second tie, use washable paint to make colorful fingerprints.
Tip: If using paint, let it dry completely before moving on! - Once both sides are decorated and dry, glue the two ties together—decorated sides facing out.
- After the glue dries, laminate the tie using the self-adhesive sheets.
- Punch a hole in each top corner of the tie. Thread a piece of yarn through the holes so it can be worn around Dad’s neck.
Here’s what side one looks like:

And here’s side two:

Here is how you will tie the yarn through the holes:
