El Espartano Returns to Milan Design Week with Two New Exhibitions

After a successful debut last year, El Espartano—Argentina’s leading rug design and manufacturing company—returns to Milano Design Week, taking place from April 7 to 13. This year, the company strengthens its presence with two simultaneous exhibitions, consolidating its position at one of the world’s most influential design events.

In a new collaboration with the company, renowned Dutch trend expert Lidewij Edelkoort lays her curatorial eye to the work of Japanese artist Miroco Machiko (mirocomachiko) to create a new rug collection. Instinct, curated by Edelkoort and produced by El Espartano, comprises seven textile works that, through color, texture, and expressive brushstrokes, reflect Machiko’s artistic sensitivity and her intuitive view of the animal world. The charm of the prestigious Rossana Orlandi Gallery will once again provide the perfect setting for this exhibition.

Simultaneously, alongside iconic Argentine artist Marta Minujín, El Espartano will present Intertwined Concepts at Villa Bagatti Valsecchi in Alcova Milano, located in the Varedo district. This exclusive collection of textile artworks, created by Minujín in collaboration with El Espartano Editor, stems from her homonymous sculpture. This marks the artist’s first participation at Milan Design Week and is part of her scheduled presentations in Europe for this year. A unique opportunity to explore her artistic universe through a new textile dimension.

With its dual participation in Milan, in two of the most notorious Fuorisalone venues, El Espartano reaffirms its commitment to innovation and creativity, building a bridge between art and design while bringing the excellence of Argentine textile work to the international stage.
