The Pawson Drift Sofa is Herman Miller’s new lounge collection, designed by John Pawson in his first collaboration with the iconic American brand. This partnership brings Pawson’s architectural language into the home: clean lines, natural materials, and proportions conceived to amplify light and space.

“As with all my work, this Herman Miller sofa collection emerges through a process of subtraction, reaching a point where the primary experience of spaces and objects is rooted in the quality of proportions, surfaces, and light,” Pawson explains.

Generously padded cushions are paired with a linear, solid wood frame, featuring precise joinery and essential profiles. The collection includes two sofa lengths (203 and 236 cm), a chaise lounge version, and a lounge chair—pieces designed to transform everyday moments of pause into gestures of measured comfort.

Conceived as an intimate, enveloping retreat, the seating provides continuous support and a softness enhanced by responsibly sourced goose down upholstery. The base combines a sturdy wooden frame with a textile suspension system, ensuring comfort whether seated upright or reclining.

Every detail is calibrated to convey tangible three-dimensionality: a recessed solid wood frame, a wrapping profile, and options in white oak or walnut. Upholstery ranges from carefully selected fabrics to leathers, including Rowan, Beck, and Isa—three Greenguard™ Gold certified variants that contribute to improved indoor air quality.

In line with Herman Miller’s sustainable vision, over 80% of components are derived from natural or plant-based materials. Cushions are made from natural latex, a renewable alternative to polyurethane, resting on a suspension system of textile straps hidden beneath a cotton base. The wood comes from North American hardwoods, balancing environmental responsibility with everyday comfort.
