Fake Police arrested by Berhampur Police in Connection Collecting Money from Public |

Berhampur,(24/11/25): On Sunday The Berhampur Police arrested a Fake Police for allegedly collecting money by checking motor vehicle.
According to police , on 23.11.2025 on the written report of complainant ASI D.P.Pattnaik a case has been registered u/s.- 336 (2)/319 (2)/318 (4) BNS.,and took up investigation of the case.
During investigation on 23.10.2025 Sadar Police received an information that one person wearing police dress was collecting money by checking vehicles on the road at SH-17 near Padarbali Chhaka.
When Police arrived at Padarbali Chhaka , the team found one person dressed with like a police constable and on seeing the police vehicle he tried to escape from the place however, the real police team could able to nab the person. When questioned he disclosed his identity as Kedarnath Swain (37 years), s/o Saura Swain of Vill. Narayanpur, Berhampur Sadar Police limit.
On further enquiry he fumbled and was not able to satisfactory reply regarding wearing of police dress, even he did not remember his brass number and stated that he along with his wife were residing at Lathi, Balibada street in the rented house of one Madhaba Majhi of Lathi. Left Padarbali Chhaka to Village Lathi, Balibada Street. After finishing the process the team reached village Lathi and contacted Madhab Majhi, who stated that Kedarnath Sahu (?) identified himself as a police constable and was staying in his house on rent but he did not pay the rent since 10 months.
On searching the house the mentioned articles were found. As the Kedarnath Swain impersonating himself as a Odisha Police constable, he has been cheating general people, collecting money and travels in Trains and Buses without ticket and also involved in objectionable and unlawful activities and is liable U/s 336 (2)/319 (2)/318 (4) BNS.
The complainant,ASI , Pattnaik seized the following articles and brought the accused along with and submitted written report for necessary legal action.
The accused person Swain arrested on 23.11.2025 at 02.25 PM and forwarded to the Hon’ble court.

14. Photographs of Kedarnath Swain in police uniform
15. One SBI savings pass book
