Say Yes to More Opportunities

Creating Disney Magic ep 560 say yes to more

“Take the chance to have as many experiences as you can. They really are educational—it’s like going to school.”

Throughout my career, I said “yes” to opportunities that stretched me geographically, professionally, and personally. It’s important to reflect on the impact of our decisions. From Washington D.C. to Paris, each move I made gave me insight I never could’ve predicted.

Opening Disneyland Paris was an experience that deeply shaped me. I had to quickly learn how to manage people in different languages, navigate cultural nuances, and lead teams in high-pressure, high-stakes environments. I didn’t always know what I was doing, but I paid attention and learned fast.

When you’re young, there’s no better education than saying yes to new places, people, and roles. Even if it means selling a house at a loss or starting over in a new city. Those moments become the foundation of your leadership and your perspective. I know it did for me.

I also learned what it means to build resilience as a family. Priscilla moved with me 11 times. Her Navy upbringing prepared her well for that. Not every move was easy for our son Daniel, but the lessons we gained as a family are priceless.

If I could offer one piece of advice to anyone early in their career, or anyone stuck in comfort, it’s this: go. Travel. Move. Say yes to the unfamiliar. It might just be the best decision you make.
