An evening dedicated to the future of medicine unfolded against the iconic backdrop of the Museum of Islamic Art this past Sunday. Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah was a guest of honour at the inaugural Franca Fund Gala, an event that seamlessly wove together the worlds of high fashion, visionary leadership, and groundbreaking science.
The gala, held at M7—Qatar’s dynamic epicenter for fashion and innovation—was organized in collaboration with The Franca Sozzani Fund for Preventive Genomics. Upon arrival, Queen Rania was received by Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums and a driving force behind the nation’s cultural landscape.
More than a glittering social event, the night served a profound purpose: to advance the critical work of preventive genomics. The event directly supports research programs at Harvard Medical School and Mass General Brigham, led by renowned medical geneticist Dr. Robert Green. The Franca Fund, established in 2018, champions the use of genomic data to predict and prevent disease before symptoms take hold, with a dedicated focus on expanding access to these cutting-edge treatments for underserved communities.
By bringing together global leaders and influencers in a space dedicated to creativity and progress, the event highlighted a shared commitment to a world where healthcare is proactive, personalized, and within reach for all. It was a potent reminder that true style is, at its core, about shaping a better future.
