Babylon Park Review – London’s indoor amusement park

There are so many things to do in London with kids that an indoor amusement park might not be top of your list of must sees. And yet, sometimes you just need an easy win with kids (particularly on rainy days) and that’s precisely what Babylon Park delivers.

Located in the heart of Camden, this indoor amusement park ticks all the right boxes when it comes to keeping kids big and small entertained. Home to half-a-dozen rides, a huge variety of arcade games, and an indoor rollercoaster, Babylon Park is an easy way for the whole family to spend a few, fun-filled hours.

If you’re wondering what Babylon Park is all about then here’s what happened on our intergalactic escape to this London indoor amusement park.

What is Babylon Park?

Located at the Hawley Wharf site near Camden Lock and Camden Market, the 35,000 square foot Babylon Park first opened in 2022. It’s situated over two floors with the entrance on street level and the games on the two storeys below Camden’s busy streets.

The first floor, the mezzanine floor, is where you’ll find the food options. Babylon Park’s Ovo & Neta restaurant serve a variety of fast food and snacks. You’ll also find a handful of games on this floor (including a somewhat frantic ‘put as many balls in a hole game’ that kept my youngest Sammy entertained) and soft play areas.

That’s one of the great things about Babylon Park, there is something for all ages and the only restrictions come with a couple of the rides (including the underground rollercoaster and the drop tower which both have a height restriction). Otherwise, children of all ages are welcome and there’s a wide variety of rides for everyone.

The mezzanine level also has space-themed private rooms that can fit up to 25 people each (or 50 combined). Babylon Park London is a popular spot for birthday parties and also, apparently, corporate events! Who knew?!

The basement floor is where the majority of games and rides are, everything from dance games and bumper cars to a mini ferris wheel, air hockey and VR experiences

How does Babylon Park work?

One of the great things about Babylon Park is how easy it is to enjoy.

Traditional arcades will have you scrabbling around for coins and constantly taking out additional cash to feed the insatiable (and, in my experience, unwinnable) claw arcade machines. But with Babylon Park, they’ve made paying for the experience very easy.

There is free entry to the park after which you can purchase cards for unlimited access to rides and games. You can also purchase tickets in advance and I would recommend doing this if you are planning to visit Babylon Park during holidays such as the October, February and May half term holidays.

Rides and games at Babylon Park are paid for via the Babylon card which you can purchase online or when you arrive at the amusement park. A handful of capsule machines take £1 or £2 coins but the arcade games and rides only take Babylon cards, which can be topped up.

The Babylon cards give you unlimited access for either one hour or two hours and can be used on everything – including the claw machine games and old school video games such as Pac Man.

It’s a really good system that means kids have control of what they spend and they are reasonable value too.

An unlimited access for one hour card is £20 per person and for two hours it’s £30 per person. Access begins when you receive your wristband on entry.

Babylon Park London Rides

There are seven rides in total and 100 arcade games. The rides are:

  • Flying Spaceships – perfect for toddlers
  • Kiddie Wheel – a mini Ferris wheel
  • Alien Ride – a gentle airplane ride for young visitors
  • Indoor Roller Coaster – a fun ride that’s suitable for everyone over 105cm
  • Drop Tower – an up-and-down free-fall experience
  • Bumper Cars – family-friendly bumper fun
  • Tagada – spin around and around on this fairground attraction

We tried out almost all the rides during our time in Babylon Park.

Highlights were definitely the roller coaster (which is surprisingly zippy) and Sammy also enjoyed the Drop Tower and Tagada. We then spent most of our time trying out the arcade games. I enjoyed reliving my youth getting thrashed at PacMan (I’d forgotten how speedy the ghosts can be!) and Sam enjoyed Mario Kart.

Otherwise we spent a huge amount of time trying – very unsuccessfully – to win something from one of the claw machines

We visited around midday on a Sunday during the school holidays and I was really relieved to find that it wasn’t too busy. It started to get busier later in the afternoon but we didn’t have to queue at all for the rides, apart from the roller coaster and the line moved quickly for that.
