We’re almost halfway through the year already (we know…) and so far we’ve seen some brilliant new releases, with many showcasing at events including Watches and Wonders Geneva and the World Presentation of Haute Horlogerie (WPHH).

There’s been a strong emphasis on elegant pieces involving gems, a return to classic designs with modern interpretations, and a continued focus on complications for women. Smaller watch sizes are also a continuing trend.

Here are a few of our favourites from the year so far:
Cartier ~ Tank à Guichets

A sleek, ultra-slim digital display watch at just 6mm thick, we love this offering with its jumping hours and sweeping minutes in small apertures.

With a real Art Deco feel it’s available in yellow gold, rose gold, and platinum, with a 200-piece limited-edition platinum edition featuring a distinctive dial layout (hours at 10 o’clock, minutes at 4 o’clock).

Powered by the ultra-thin manually wound calibre 9755 MC (derived from Piaget’s renowned 430P), this one is a cool blend of Cartier heritage, technical revival and craftsmanship.

Rolex ~ Oyster Perpetual Land Dweller

Rolex released its new Oyster Perpetual Land-Dweller collection including sizes and variations specifically for women. A significant launch, as it was only their second entirely new collection since 2013, it’s a fresh concept on the existing Dweller lines.

The Land-Dweller is available in 36mm and 40mm and stands out with its integrated flat Jubilee bracelet, seamlessly flowing from the barrel-shaped monobloc case for a sleek, modern look inspired by vintage Oysterquartz models.

This one has a lugless design with a honeycomb dial, featuring an intricate hexagon pattern. And you can choose from a fluted bezel or diamond-set bezel on various metals.

Dial options include intense white, exclusive ice blue (for platinum), and a diamond-set variant for the Everose gold 36mm. Inside, it features the new high-frequency calibre 7135 movement, for top notch performance.

Patek Philippe ~ Twenty-4 Perpetual Calendar

Up there in our favourites is the reference 7340/1R, a luxury ladies’ ultra-thin automatic dress watch, which belongs to the Calatrava collection, known for its refined elegance, understated design, and mechanical excellence.

This year, it gets its first perpetual calendar complication, which is long overdue since that is the brand’s speciality. Its integrated rose gold bracelet flows seamlessly into the case, offering a slim profile. The cushion-shaped case features softly curved lines and a polished finish, giving it a really elegant appearance.

The dial showcases a fine sunburst pattern, applied gold hour markers and dauphine hands for a clean, legible display. A bezel adorned with 132 brilliant-cut diamonds enhances its luxurious presence without overwhelming the design. At its heart is the ultra-thin calibre 240, a self-winding movement with a micro-rotor.

Audemars Piguet: Code 11.59 Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon

For those who love diamonds (as much as we do) the case of this one is crafted in 18k sand gold, a rare alloy exclusive to Audemars Piguet, with a unique, warm hue between pink and white gold.

It’s lavishly set with brilliant-cut diamonds across the case, lugs, and even the architectural lugs connecting the case middle and bezel – an AP signature in the Code 11.59 line. The case’s multi-layered, complex geometry creates visual depth and modernity, even when adorned with diamonds.
It has a selfwinding movement (calibre 240) featuring a flying tourbillon, which is visible on the dial, adding a dynamic, constantly moving element.
