Welcome to another #DiscussionSunday post. This time, the question is a Book Blogger Hop topic for the week of July 11-17, 2025:
These are my personal opinions. I do not expect anyone to agree with anything here, and in fact, I’m certain that many will disagree and/or even hate many of the things I’ve written below. Sorry about that, but you are always welcome to express your own opinions – be they contrary or comparable – in the comments section. So, with that out of the way… let the controversy begin!
What made me think about this topic?
This is a topic I found on the Book Blogger Hop topics page by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer blog, which was submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Review.
My Answer…
When I first started blogging, I was posting one or maybe two posts a week, at the most. That was when I was still working (albeit only part-time). When I retired, I started upping my postings to three times a week. Back then, I published on set days of the week, which were usually Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Then I realized there were some fun bookish memes and tags that landed on Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. After fiddling around with my schedule, I decided that I’d post every other day. So, one week I’ll post on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and the following week I’ll post on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. So, I’ve gone from 1-2 posts a week to 3-4 posts a week. Ah, isn’t retirement fun?
Mind you, I sometimes end up posting two days in a row when things like a Classics Club Spin comes at me without warning, or when I post my quarterly linky page for the New Release Challenge, and the first day of that quarter falls on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday. But that happens rarely.
See, I don’t want to add too many fillers to my blog (like I did with my published poetry, or my posts about baking and things I make in my pottery class). I also don’t want to post every day. I believe that old adage “less is more” and if I post every day, you’d probably all get bored with me. How some people post several times in one day is just beyond me! I have barely enough content to just get me through every other day! (Okay, so being a slow reader does factor in here.)
Obviously, I promote all of my posts on social media, where appropriate. All my posts get put up on my Facebook page for this blog, which I share to my personal page as well. These all also get automatically posted to a bunch of social media pages that are connected to this blog. I manually post these to Twitter as well. But on Goodreads, Pinterest, and Instagram, I only post my book reviews.
There you have it!
How often to you put up bookish posts on your blog?
By the way, my next book review will be my…
This post is also my 7th entry in the 2025 Discussion Challenge, hosted by Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction and Shannon @ It Starts at Midnight!
