Triton Beverage Group Acquires Cape Cod Beer: A New Chapter for a Cape Cod Icon

PRESS RELEASE / June 4, 2025 (Orleans, MA) – Triton Beverage Group, which began with Hog Island Beer Company and recently expanded through the acquisition of Mayflower Brewing Company, is proud to announce its latest milestone: the acquisition of Cape Cod Beer, the region’s original craft brewery, founded and operated by Todd and Beth Marcus since 2004.

This move brings together three of Massachusetts’ most beloved coastal breweries under one independent, Cape Cod rooted umbrella. With shared values of quality, authenticity, and community, the partnership sets the stage for an exciting future in craft beer across New England.

With this acquisition, Triton Beverage Group becomes the largest locally owned brewing company on Cape Cod and the South Shore, celebrating nearly 50 years of collective brewing history – all originating from coastal towns on Cape Cod Bay, Nantucket Sound, and the Atlantic Ocean.

Cape Cod Beer has been a pioneer in the local craft beer scene for over 21 years, earning a strong reputation for award-winning beers, community engagement, and a fiercely independent, community-driven approach to brewing. “Beth and I are incredibly proud of what we’ve built with Cape Cod Beer,” said Todd Marcus, co-founder of Cape Cod Beer. “It was important to us that the next chapter honors our legacy and stays true to the Cape Cod spirit. Mike and the Triton
team share our values and vision – we’re thrilled to see the brewery continue to grow in good hands.”

Mike McNamara, founder of Hog Island Beer Company and CEO of Triton Beverage Group, added, “Todd and Beth are Cape Cod legends in the beer world. Cape Cod Beer is a cornerstone of the community and a trailblazer in Massachusetts brewing. We’re honored to build on their incredible legacy.”

Cape Cod Beer will continue operations at its Hyannis brewery, maintaining its brand identity and beloved events. Triton Beverage Group will provide additional resources, strategic support, and new collaborative opportunities between Cape Cod Beer, Mayflower Brewing Company, and Hog Island Beer Co.

“This isn’t about changing Cape Cod Beer — it’s about investing in what’s already great and helping it reach new heights,” McNamara said. “Together, we’ll keep making great beer and deepening our roots in the communities we love.”

Triton Beverage Group will continue to operate each of its breweries – Cape Cod Beer in Hyannis, Hog Island Beer Co. in Orleans, and Mayflower Brewing Company in Plymouth — within their original locations, preserving the unique identity, culture, and community connection each brand has cultivated.

“Inspired by its namesake Triton, the Greek god of the sea, our company draws meaning from the trident, whose three prongs represent the past, present, and future,” McNamara said. “It’s a powerful metaphor for what we’re building: honoring the traditions that got us here, staying grounded in the communities we serve today, and always looking ahead to create what’s next in craft beer.”

This milestone also reflects Triton Beverage Group’s growing influence in both the craft beer and live music scenes. In addition to its breweries, McNamara and musician Garrett Dutton (G. Love) co-founded the Outermost Roots and Blues Festival, held each Columbus Day Weekend at Nauset Beach in Orleans. The 2024 lineup featured artists like Jack Johnson, Slightly Stoopid, G. Love & Special Sauce, Donavon Frankenreiter, and Iam Tongi – underscoring Triton’s role at the crossroads of craft beer, culture, and community.
