Can you see it? Do you notice how the world is groaning, longing for the glory of God to encompass and set free every bitter thing? How the world aches for the Lord’s reign to be submitted to, for righteousness to be lived and loved and gloriously exalted, and for sin, sorrow, tragedy, and terror to dissipate forever, making all things right?
Whenever I think I deserve a moment of peace or a few seconds to myself, I am gently reminded of Jesus’ selfless example. He surrendered all His rights for me. Jesus, who lacked nothing, forsook everything to save us and show us what life, as it was meant to be lived, is really like.
He, whom the earth trembles before, allowed the dust to become part of His make-up. He, for whom ceaseless praise and adoration are due, made Himself meek and lowly and bore the insults of those made in His image.
Maybe I don’t remember all of this when my flesh says, “If I could just have…” But I make it a point to meditate on it regularly, so that in those moments, the Holy Spirit has room to manifest love in self-control, rather than self-service. Amen!
Blessings and Love…
