If you’re on the lookout for a gift for the beginning baker in your life (or for yourself!) then you’re in the right place! The right baking tools can transform any beginner’s baking experience from frustrating to fantastic. In this gift guide I’ll share a few of the kitchen accessories and baking supplies that have helped me over the years.

Collage of baking tools and utensils with text Best Gifts for Beginning Bakers. Items include silicone mat, mixing bowls, whisks, measuring cups, spoons, muffin pan, hand mixer, and more, all set against a checkered background.
  • Mixing Bowls – These bowls come in different sizes and will last for years to come.
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons – Definitely baking tools every beginning baker needs. When it comes to measuring ingredients, you don’t have to get anything fancy. But you may want to consider gifting a set of dry measuring cups and a set of liquid measuring cups. There is a difference! Measuring spoons can be used for both for dry and liquid ingredients. I also love using this sticky measuring cup for ingredients like peanut butter or honey!
  • Kitchen Scale –  When baking cupcakes and cakes, it really is best to weigh your ingredients. This will yield the best results! It will set any beginning baker up for success right off the bat.
  • Whisk Set – Whisks are essential for mixing dry and wet ingredients togther, as well as creating smooth batters.
  • Silicone Spatula Set – Leave no batter behind when you scrape the bowl with a silicone spatula and their flexible edges. They’re gentle enough to fold in delicate ingredients. They are also sturdy enough to handle hot temperatures in hot sugar mixes or melted chocolate.
  • Baking Sheets –  USA Pan Bakeware is a favorite brand of mine. They’re extremely reliable because conduct heat well and won’t warp.
  • Cooling Racks – Great for cakes and cookies!! And to be honest, I’ve also used it to put hot pie plates on.
  • Hand Mixer – This mixer has 9 different speeds and has a case for all its attachments! It’s a beginning baker’s dream!
  • Cookie Scoops – The more sizes, the merrier! These are essential for making sure cookies are all the same size. They’re also great for scooping out cupcake and muffin batter.
  • Muffin Tin – Wilton for the win, always. These are tried and true muffin tins that are also great for cupcakes.
  • Round Cake Pan Set – This set comes with 3 different sizes for 6 inch, 8 inch, or 10 inch cakes. Perfect for creating simple celebration cakes!
  • Pyrex Clear Baking Set – I really like this set because it comes with a 9×13. Perfect for poke cakes. It also includes a square baking dish. Brownies, anyone?

The beginning baker will consider these a real treat! They aren’t absolutely necessary for baked goods to turn out, but they will sweeten the whole baking experience!

  • Stand Mixer – This stand mixer is a workhorse and will get the job done right.
  • Mini Food Processor – A food processor is the best tool for crushing up cookies for a pie crust. It is also great for creating a flaky all-butter pie dough. You can even make nut butters.
  • Silicone Baking Mat – This baking tool will take the place of parchment paper. If the beginning baker in your life is truly serious about their journey, this is a great investment for them.
  • Flex Edge Scraper – This is an attachment that goes on your kitchen stand mixer. It’s perfect for all that frosting that is to be made. It’s also a great tool for thin cookie dough and compound butters.
  • Offset Spatula – These aren’t just for frosting cakes! They’re an essential baking tool because not only can they be used to frost cakes and cookies. They can help release muffins from their tins. They’re also useful for spreading cake batter evenly, shimmying under rolled-out sugar cookie dough to transfer cut-outs to a baking sheet, or spreading jam or frosting between layers of cakes.
