Strawberry Delight – The Country Cook

A luscious, creamy and light dessert that’s bursting with fresh strawberry flavor, this Strawberry Delight is an irresistible no bake treat!

A STRAWBERRY LUSH DESSERT

I love layered desserts, especially layered no bake desserts. They are often desserts that I love making on repeat. The buttery Golden Oreo cookie crust, with the luscious creamy filling layers, and sweet strawberry cheesecake layer makes this Strawberry Delight the perfect no-bake treat. I like taking this for potlucks and family gatherings. Plus, it’s a simple dessert to whip up whenever I’m craving a creamy strawberry dessert. Also, you may have seen these types of desserts called a “delight”, “lush”, or even just a “layered dessert”.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

What mixer did you use in your photos?

Every time I use this mixer and share it in the images, someone wants to know more about it, so I figured I would just share the info here. I like to use it in photos because it’s easier to see what is going on in the mixer since it’s open. It’s a Bosch mixer (paid affiliate link). I know this one is super nice but it comes with a hefty price tag, and honestly, unless you are a huge baker and would use it a lot, it’s not worth that kind of money. If you are looking to invest in a mixer, I would probably just go with a standard stand mixer (like KitchenAid.) For this recipe, any mixer will work or you can do it by hand.

Can I freeze this instead of chilling it?

I know waiting the 4 hours for this treat to chill in the dessert can feel like eternity, trust me, I get it. I want to crush a piece of this as soon as possible too. But, freezing it to save time will change the consistency of it all.

Can I make this with other flavors?

Certainly. The strawberries can be replaced with so many other options. At the bottom of this post, you’ll see a Craving More Recipes section where I have listed some more lush or delight desserts that you may enjoy. Some other options you may like that aren’t listed down there are:
Butterfinger Lush
Cookie Monster Layered Dessert
Pistachio Layered Dessert

Can I use Cool Whip instead?

Instead of making homemade whipped cream, you could use Cool Whip. I would get a1 2 ounce tub. Split it in half, use half for the filling and the other half for topping.

What type of tip did you use for piping?

A star tip was used for piping this dessert. But, if you don’t have one, don’t let that stop you from making this dessert. You can use any tip, or go tip less. No piping bag either? No problem! Instead, transfer the mixture to a Ziploc bag and cut the corner and make your own piping bag or just skip the extra detail. It’s just used to make it pretty but it’s not necessary!

How can I get such nice clean cut pieces?

When cutting any layered dessert, delight, or lush dessert, I like to warm the blade of the knife under some hot water first. Dry the knife blade and then, after I cut through the dessert, I wipe the blade so I’m not dragging any other dessert remnants through the new slices.

How long are leftovers good for?

This delight is best when you first make it. Over time the layers may start to deflate. Leftover dessert pieces can be stored in an airtight container and can be kept in the fridge for up to 2-3 days.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (SEE RECIPE CARD BELOW FOR THE FULL RECIPE)

  • Golden Oreo cookies– or try substituting with graham crackers for a graham cracker crumb crust. For a strawberry lemonade vibe, you could swap the Golden Oreos for lemon Oreos, or use a mix of both.
  • unsalted butter – salted butter can be used. You’re just melting it to make the crust. there is very little salt in salted butter so it’s not going to throw off the flavor.
  • fresh strawberries – I don’t recommend frozen strawberries only because they have a lot of liquid in them when they thaw. If you really wanted to use them, you would definitely want to thaw then pat dry. If they release too much liquid, it will break down the dessert and you’ll have a watery mess.
  • heavy whipping cream
  • powdered sugar
  • cream cheese – softened to room temperature. This is helpful in getting everything to incorporate and mix together nicely. If you need them, check out my Tips for Softening Cream Cheese Quickly.
  • vanilla extract
  • strawberry Jell-O powder
  • freeze-dried strawberries– this is a totally optional ingredient. I know it can be an hard ingredient for some people to find. You could buy some freeze dried strawberries and crush them up if desired. I know Walmart and Trader Joe’s carries freeze dried strawberries.
