The Kansas City Chiefs and Zarda Bar-B-Q continue a 36-year Training Camp tradition!
After some massive preparation on Monday, August 5, the Zarda Bar-B-Q team rolled out in full force on Tuesday, August 6, en route to St. Joseph Missouri to feed the hungriest team in football – your Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs!
What does it take to feed almost 200 Chiefs players, coaches, and staff? Glad you asked! With 36 years of Training Camp experience on the record books, Zarda knows a thing or two about preparing a feast for Kansas City’s hungriest athletes!
Prep work starts weeks in advance as the Zarda team creates the menu plan. And, by the day before camp, work is at a fever pitch – with hickory pits smoking hundreds of pounds of KC Classic Ribs, Texas Brisket, juicy Pulled Pork, Smoked Sliced Turkey, and, of course, Zarda’s Chowtown Burnt End Bracket Award-Winning Limited Reserve Burnt Ends!
You can’t “Eat Like a Chief” without the sides, so Zarda packs the catering vans to the roof with gallon upon gallon of Cheesy Potato Bake, Limited Reserve Burnt End Baked Beans, and creamy White Cheddar Mac n Cheese. No BBQ meal is complete without the sauce – and Zarda packs cases for the trip – including Zarda Original Sauce, Bold and Spicy, Apple Harvest, and crowd-favorite Lil’Ghost! In addition to the classic Zarda sauces, the crew brought the team samples of a brand-new sauce that’s been in development – an all-new Root Beer sauce with a habanero kick!
