Lago Vista Brewing Company was founded by Mark Norman and his wife Samantha, along with Dylan Byerly and his wife Cheyenne. Mark and Dylan’s friendship began during their time in the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M University. Mark brings a wealth of brewing experience from his previous roles at Save the World Brewing in Marble Falls and Pecan Street Brewing in Johnson City. Dylan, who was working in Fort Worth, frequently visited the Normans in the Hill Country. Inspired by the area’s charm and the opportunity to create something unique, he and his wife decided to join their friends in establishing the Lago Vista Brewing Company in early 2022.
Brewery
Opened on June 16, 2023, Lago Vista Brewing Company has quickly become a staple in the Texas Hill Country. The brewery boasts a 3,000-square-foot taproom and an expansive 6,000-square-foot beer garden, offering ample space for guests to relax and enjoy. The family-friendly environment is enhanced by regular events such as trivia nights, music bingo, and a weekly farmers market, helping to foster a strong sense of family and community.
Beer
Specializing in traditional German-style lagers, Lago Vista Brewing Company emphasizes brewing clean, crisp beers that appeal to a wide range of palates. Notable offerings include “Gold Bars, Babe,” a Czech Pale Lager, and “Trails End,” an outstanding Dunkel and personal favorite. Their commitment to quality was recognized at the 2025 Texas Craft Brewers Cup, where they earned a bronze medal in the Golden, Blond, & Light Ales category for their “Bronco Blonde” ale.
Taproom
The spacious taproom and beer garden provide a welcoming atmosphere for both locals and visitors. Guests can enjoy a variety of beverages, including the brewery’s signature craft beer offerings, along with wines, ciders, and non-alcoholic options. The on-site food truck, Tasty Bites, offers a selection of dishes that pair well with the drink offerings.
In the words of the leadership team, “We have traveled to many places around the world but have always found the best conversations are born in a biergarten. We wanted to bring that to the North Shore. Over the last few years, we have been envisioning what we want you to experience when you walk through our doors. We want you to feel Gemütlichkeit, like you belong at our table, because you do!”
