Cynic Green Edition – Beer Bottle

Cynic Green Edition

With all my ambiguous attitude to sour beers, when they are well made, it can not but cause respect and desire to try this beer. Cynic Green Edition from the famous Jaws brewery is just such a case. Yes, Jaws is better known for its “Looking for a Man”, but the story is somewhat different there. “Looking for a Man” was originally a collaboration with Verhaeghe and was brought from Belgium (now, most likely, it is brewed here). This was the brewery’s first experience with Flemish red ales, and many things have been released since then.

Cynic also went through different versions and iterations. Red Edition, Blue Edition and now Green Edition were released. The main focus was on what is brewed in Russia. They say that we can also do as well as the Belgians! And yes, we can!

Cynic Green Edition (Russia, Zarechny, Sverdlovsk region)– 5,5/13 – a blend of different barrels aged from 8 months to 2 years. In the aroma and aftertaste, there is a typical tone of balsamic vinegar for this style. The aroma fills your nose as soon as you fill the glass, immediately hinting at the depth of flavors to expect. The taste is moderately sour and does not cause weariness. There’s a light touch of barnyard (on the periphery), plus red berries and lollipops. Bright, but not loud. The rating is “A-“.

So, if you are looking for a beer with its character, and depth of taste and want to enjoy it in silence, then Cynic Green Edition from Jaws is a great choice!
