Fruit beer is a style of beer that can only surprise a beginner who has never tasted anything other than live unfiltered beer. I’m not a big fan of the usual cherry beer, but sometimes it comes, as they say, “like home”. Super 8 Cherry is just the case!
The Super 8 brand is produced by the Belgian brewery Brouwerij Haacht Brasserie. We also know her from her Primus and Tongerlo beers. The history of the brewery is as follows: in 1893, Eugene De Ro founded a dairy farm near the town of Hacht. In 1898, he started brewing beer on the farm (probably for domestic consumption), using dairy waste (whey)! In 1908, he opened the commercial brewery Brouwerij Haacht, which by 1930 had become one of the largest in Belgium. During the Second World War, it was partially destroyed, but in the 50s it was restored and modernized. Currently, the brewery is owned by Huyghe Brewery (the “pink elephant” Delirium Tremens).
Super 8 Cherry (Belgium, Bortmerbeek) – 3.4% alcohol. The aroma and taste are natural cherry, just like any cherry fruit bar. However, as they say, there are nuances. And that’s the whole point! Neither the taste nor the aroma evoke the impression of chemistry or any perfumery, like many others. It is the taste of ripe sweet cherries (25% juice)! At the same time, a slight sourness balances the sweetness, and in the aftertaste a light tart stone.
Everything is in a great balance. This beer can not only quench your thirst in the heat but also bring true pleasure. I’m not afraid to give you an “A” grade.
