I should get this admission out up front so here goes…I love grapefruit beers. Maybe I haven’t tasted every single beer brewed with grapefruit, but I definitely can’t think if a single one that I didn’t love. Of course I was excited when I heard the news, and even more excited when the beer arrived at mybeerbuzz headquarters.
I’m talking about Breckenridge Brewery and I’m specifically talking about their new Spring Forward Grapefruit IPA. The beer is an IPA that will be dry-hopped with Citra, Cascade and Amarillo hops and it will clock in at the perfect 6.5%-AbV. This beer is packaged in 12oz bottles and I actually thought the bottle was a perfect fit for the beer. I should also mention that the grapefruit-colored bottle packaging looks great in the cooler and also gives you a quick preview of what your tastebuds will be tasting very soon. Of course I can’t wait to sample it, so off we go…

Overall: Breckenridge Brewery Spring Forward is the perfect beer to say goodbye to winter and move on to warmer weather (even if it is still January!). The beer is bright and really drinkable and even though the taste of grapefruit is much more subtle than the big grapefruit aroma, the beer has a wonderful grapefruit presence from start to finish. Overall, Spring Forward is a really enjoyable beer that I can’t wait to sip in warmer weather but I really enjoyed no matter what the weather was outside. This one is a keeper and hopefully Breckenridge will decide to bring it back.
