February 3rd was Four Chaplains Day, and we were closed so you couldn’t come in to drink our Four Chaplains IPA so we’re here to remind you.

On February 3, 1943, four U.S. Army chaplains—Lt. George Fox (Methodist), Lt. Alexander Goode (Jewish), Lt. John Washington (Catholic), and Lt. Clark Poling (Dutch Reformed)—made the ultimate sacrifice when the USS Dorchester was struck by a German torpedo.

In the chaos, they gave up their own life jackets so others could survive. As the ship sank, survivors recalled seeing the chaplains standing together, praying, and offering comfort to the men around them. Their selfless act of bravery and faith remains a powerful symbol of unity, sacrifice, and love.

On Four Chaplains Day, we remember their incredible heroism and the lesson they left behind: In the face of adversity, we are stronger together.
