On October 12th, 2024, from 12pm to 6pm, Snallygaster is back for its 12th year as a rollicking tribute to the wonderful world of craft beer. With a mind-boggling selection of 450 highly sought-after brews from 175 of the finest American and international producers, along with a wide array of local food vendors and two stages of live music, Snallygaster is the biggest beer festival on the East Coast. As impressive as the offering is the setting: for one day only, Snallygaster will descend on the heart of Downtown Washington, D.C. to take over four city blocks between 3rd and 7th Streets on Pennsylvania Avenue.
“With the Capitol building as the backdrop, Snallygaster will once again offer an unforgettable beer drinking experience,” says Greg Engert, Beverage Director & Partner for Neighborhood Restaurant Group. Adding, “this year’s list is proving to be the most impressive yet, with countless new breweries and rare beers on hand for the occasion. Even better, we’re expecting a huge number of the brewers themselves to join us, including many traveling from overseas, and they’re all excited to pour their offerings for our guests.”
Engert and his team curate each and every selection, bringing the same approach they apply daily to their lists at Churchkey, Shelter, Owen’s Tavern and Garden, Rustico, The Sovereign, and more. Attendees can expect an unbelievable array of small batch, highly sought-after brews on draft as well as a host of cask ales, vintage bottle pours and gravity-kegs from the likes of Cantillon, Hill Farmstead, Monkish, Fidens, and so many more. Check out 2023’s beer list for an idea of what 2024 has in store. Rounding out Snallygaster’s 2024 offering is a bevy of ciders, wines, and cocktails, as well as a makers market curated by Shop Made in DC and a kids zone for whole families to enjoy.
As with years prior, ticket sales will benefit Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food and Agriculture, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a more equitable and sustainable local food system in the Washington, D.C. area. The brainchild of Neighborhood Restaurant Group Founder Michael Babin, Arcadia has a production and demonstration farm, a program to train military veterans to be farmers, field trips and farm camp for school children, and a Mobile Market program that sells affordable, convenient high-quality food in low-income, low-food access neighborhoods. Snallygaster is the nonprofit’s largest annual fundraising event.
The Kraken pass is $75 per guest and grants entry to the festival at 2:00 p.m. along with a commemorative tasting glass and unlimited beer, cider, wine, and cocktail tastings all day long. The Basilisk pass is $150 per guest and allows entry at 12:00 p.m. for two hours of early and unlimited access to all the beers, ciders, wines, and cocktails along with the commemorative tasting glass. This exclusive ticket is in limited supply and is key to enjoying the rarest selections that may run out prior to the official 2:00 p.m. start time. The Basilisk pass also permits access to VIP amenities (including private bathrooms and shaded seating areas). Both tickets will go on sale at SnallygasterDC.com starting Tuesday, July 9th, at 10:00 a.m., and we encourage purchasing early as this event will sell out (and no additional tickets will be available at the door). Food and merchandise will be priced individually during the event and are not included with the price of either pass.
