Sandy Higson, AKA The Mad Jam Woman, collected top prizes at this year’s Artisan World Marmalade Awards – including a Gold Award for her Orange and Lime Marmalade with Chilli and Ginger.
Amble-based Sandy also earned two Bronze Awards – for her Seville Orange Marmalade with Red Pepper and Chilli, and her Seville Orange Marmalade with Red Onion and Black Garlic.
The Marmalade Awards brought together more than 3,000 jars from more than 30 countries including Iran, Cyprus, Greece, Hong Kong, the USA and Japan this year. The jars were judged by an expert panel including head judge Jane Maggs (founder of Wild & Fruitful), food historian Ivan Day, and Fortnum & Mason grocery buyer Syrie Gwyn Palmer.
