On the cover is a stunning chicken pie from Anna Hedworth’s new book, Service. Anna has built a formidable reputation and carved out her place in the North East’s, and the UK’s, culinary landscape. Her restaurants, Cook House and Long Friday, are rightly celebrated and her second book, Service, opens the kitchen door and lets us into the stories, recipes and little secrets which make Anna’s cooking so good. We have five of her favourite recipes from the book in this edition and that’s barely scratching the surface of what awaits you in Service.
Meanwhile, our columnists have been busy – none more so than Ann Paton as she continues to develop the vast walled garden at Freyja alongside her husband, Bob. We also have Laura and Daisy’s latest travels around the region and beyond – and lots more great stuff from Linda, Helen, and Bob.
In this edition we also celebrate great wine with lamb with David Harker, and five years of FADNE’s impact on the region with the organisation’s CEO Chris Jewitt. Plus there’s a trip to North Tyneside to visit some of our favourite places.
