Classic Apple Pie Recipe – Sunrise Flour Mill


For the Crust:

  • 2 1/2 cups Heritage White Flour

  • 1 Tbsp sugar

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes

  • 6-8 Tbsp ice water

  • For the Apple Filling:

  • 6-7 medium apples (such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or a mix), peeled, cored, and sliced

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar

  • 2 Tbsp Heritage White Flour

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1 tbsp cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces (for dotting on top of the filling)

  • For the Top:

  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

  • 1 tbsp sugar (for sprinkling)
