In the heart of Austin, Texas, where creativity and culinary passion collide, one small family-owned pizza business is making big waves in the local food scene. Good Vibrations Pizza Co. isn’t just about serving pizza—it’s about crafting high-quality, wood-fired perfection while fostering a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Behind this mouthwatering endeavor are owners Austin Smith and his partner Megan, who have turned their love for pizza into a thriving business with a loyal following.
Like many great food ventures, Good Vibrations Pizza Co. started from humble beginnings—right at home. During the COVID lockdown, Austin and Megan found themselves experimenting with pizza-making, first in their home oven and then on a propane pizza oven on their patio. Their growing love for the craft led them to take things a step further, launching pop-ups with their propane setup. But when it came time to build their dream pizza trailer, there was only one choice: a wood-fired oven.
“It just felt right for the style of pizza we wanted to serve,” Austin explains. And with that, Good Vibrations Pizza Co. was born.
Running a food business is more than just perfecting recipes; it’s an ever-evolving journey of learning. For the pair behind Good Vibrations Pizza Co., every day brings a new lesson in pizza-making, hospitality, and entrepreneurship.
“There have been lessons that could only have been taught through a hands-on approach,” Austin shares. But beyond the business side of things, the people they’ve met along the way have been the most rewarding part. From fellow food truck owners to the supportive Austin community, Good Vibrations Pizza Co. has found a home among passionate food lovers.
With a menu full of flavorful combinations, it’s hard to pick a favorite pizza, but one pie stands out as a fan favorite: the Sweet Heat. This top-seller features house-made tomato sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, hot Italian sausage, pickled jalapeños, and a drizzle of hot honey—creating the perfect balance of spicy and sweet. And for those looking to take it up a notch, adding their house-whipped ricotta is always an option.
“Bonus points when someone wants to add that ricotta on top!” Austin said.
Good Vibrations Pizza Co. has been rolling strong for a year in their wood-fired pizza trailer, though their journey technically began three years ago with their first pop-ups. And while every great success story has its challenges, Austin and Megan are inspired by the process—by the ability to build something from the ground up, to work hard, and to celebrate every step along the way.
As for where you can find them? They’re parked at Vacancy Brewing in Austin, TX (425 E. St. Elmo Rd 1-D2, Austin, TX 78745), serving up fresh, flavorful pies to hungry patrons who appreciate a great slice of wood-fired goodness.
So next time you’re in the mood for pizza that’s made with passion and served with heart, make your way to Good Vibrations Pizza Co. Your taste buds will thank you.
