Friday Food Bites: Hot Chicken Takeover closes final location, Resch’s closing original bakery


Happy Friday! Here’s the latest Columbus restaurant news:

  • Well, it’s the end of an era for Columbus. The last Hot Chicken Takeover location closed this past week. Their final spot was the North Market store, which is where they moved after their original spot in Olde Towne East (which you can see here in my 2014 post!). Last week they shuttered their Grandview, Gahanna, and
  • Resch’s Bakery announced that they will be closing their original bakery on Livingston Avenue as they prepare to open a new production and retail facility in Gahanna. The Livingston bakery is set to close on Sept. 30, while the new space at 150 N. Hamilton Rd. will open in early October.
  • This week the announcement broke that Giant Eagle will open a new 20,000-square-foot Market District location on The Peninsula, the new development directly west of COSI that includes The Junto and other buildings.
  • A new all-you-can-eat sushi spot called Hokkaido Revolving Sushi Bar is set to open soon at 1466 Bethel Rd. on the northwest side.
  • The Cheesecake Girl announced she’ll be closing her Dublin location at 4345 W. Dublin Granville Rd. after Saturday, Sept. 27. Her three other locations – in the Center Street Market, Budd Dairy Food Hall, and Wexner Medical Center – remain open.
  • Ash & Em Burger Joint, which recently left Columbus Axe Throwing in the Brewery District, has reopened inside The Station Bar and Venue, at 4030 Main St. in Hilliard.
  • Bowl Boba Asian restaurant has opened a third location at 1397 Worthington Centre Dr.
  • Kile Road Coffee will be popping up every Wednesday in October at the LC Hilliard apartment complex at 4115 Britton Pkwy. They’re kicking off next Wednesday, Oct. 1 and will be there Wednesdays from 7-11 a.m.
  • Fat Arnie’s Sandwich Shop announced on social media that they’ll be opening soon inside Rafter’s Pub, at 4404 Indianola Ave. in Clintonville.
