Not Grocery Shopping, Again

Last week my paycheck didn’t hit my account like it normally does on Thursday’s. To be fair, I technically get paid every other Friday, but with my online bank I have access to it the day before. I am so thankful for that, and I am used to it.

Don’t get me wrong. I know the reason it doesn’t hit my account on the occasional Thursday is because of bonuses. I like that! Obviously. But it does mess up my schedule.

You see, I work Monday through Thursday, the 3-11 PM shifts. So, every other Thursday I have a routine. I take an Uber into Bangor earlier than normal (because that’s when it is cheaper) and have them drop me off at Applebee’s. I order my salad and unsweetened iced tea, and double the order to have a meal for that night at work. I eat, and walk to work from there to drop off my dinner, then I walk from work to Walmart to do my shopping. Once in a while, I might drop my shopping bags off at work after, then walk to Goodwill and have a look around. But I did not get paid last Thursday.

Originally, I thought I was going to have to order groceries through DoorDash so I would have what I needed on Sunday to meal prep my work meals for this week. But I did a little looking around and decided I could make do without the extra cost and save money on food by not shopping for the week.

I made kielbasa with corn & peas, some popcorn, and portioned out oranges and cucumber slices. I also made an egg bake.

I knew I was using my gift card to Applebee’s (part of my Mother’s Day gift from Skye) for a meal out with my daughter, and that I have plans for another meal out this week with the bestest. I have had plenty of food this week.

I think I am only buying a few things this week for next as well. I have pork chops in the freezer, so I am planning to buy some fruits and vegetables, not many of either, while shopping tomorrow. That will likely be it. I don’t plan to spend much. I have most of what I need on hand at home.

Considering I usually pay $35 to $60 a week on groceries, I am saving a lot on food this week. This is great since I will be spending money on supplement soon enough.

How often, if ever, do you skip grocery shopping?
