Azucar Ice Cream Company in Miami’s Little Havana is not just a place for ice cream—it’s an experience steeped in Cuban culture, family legacy, and unforgettable flavors.
My first visit to this gem was a long while back, but it wasn’t until my third trip that I truly fell in love with one of their signature flavors: Mantecado.
This Cuban vanilla-inspired ice cream is more than just vanilla; it has a distinct cinnamon kick that reminds me of egg nog, evoking memories of my late grandfather Gollo, who also adored it. That blend of personal nostalgia and the rich flavor profile truly hooked me.
Signature Flavors

From the moment you step inside Azucar, you’ll know you’re in for something special. Every scoop is handmade with natural ingredients, ensuring every flavor bursts with authenticity. Some of my favorites (and I’ve tried nearly all of them) include:
- Abuela María: A Cuban-inspired blend of guava, cream cheese, and Maria cookies mixed with vanilla ice cream—a flavor that feels like a hug from your abuela.
- Mantecado: My favorite is a cinnamon-laced Cuban vanilla that always brings back family memories.
- Café con Leche: A sweet marriage of vanilla ice cream with a shot of espresso and hot fudge—perfect for those who love a caffeine boost with their dessert.
- Lemon Sorbet: Refreshing, tart, and delicious.
- Beam Me Up: A bourbon-infused flavor with Heath Bar pieces, perfect for those who like a little liquor with their sweet tooth. It also happens to be Marcela‘s favorite.

Azucar also offers seasonal and limited-edition flavors like Besitos (vanilla ice cream with pink meringues) and Red Hot Lover (banana and red hots). If it’s your first time visiting, I highly recommend starting with the Abuela María—it’s the perfect introduction to this place.

A Family Legacy

Founded by Suzy Batlle in 2011, Azucar Ice Cream Company is a testament to her dedication to quality and passion for Cuban heritage. Suzy and her family infuse every scoop with love, culture, and a bit of their own story, making each visit a personal experience for anyone who walks through the door.
The Decor and Vibe

As you step inside the Little Havana location, you’re transported into a scene that feels like home. The “Guayabera” wrapped seats, a tribute to the classic Cuban look (with the plastic covering every Cuban grandmother had on her furniture), immediately set the tone. The vibrant, colorful décor adds to the lively atmosphere, making Azucar a great spot to linger, savor your ice cream, and soak in the culture around you.
Perfect for Sharing
While the flavors are undeniably fantastic, Azucar’s ice cream is best enjoyed with others. Whether you’re sharing a sundae, trying different flavors, or just enjoying the ambiance, something about the company makes the experience even sweeter.
A Sweet Way to End the Day

Azucar isn’t just an ice cream shop; it celebrates Cuban and Miami culture, family, and community. From the flavors to the décor, everything about this place exudes warmth and charm. So, next time you’re in the Little Havana area—or Pinecrest—make sure to stop by and treat yourself to some of the best ice cream in Miami. As the legendary Celia Cruz would say, “Azúcar!”
