Long before it plastered “No Hormones. No Antibiotics.” across neon-green walls, BurgerFi was just an idea at The Office Delray in Delray Beach. The brainchild of industry veterans who’d watched Shake Shack and Five Guys carve out their niches, “the Burgerification of America” set up shop in a former Burger King on January 31, 2011, in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. To South Florida diners, it felt like a homegrown answer to the wave of burger joints sweeping the nation.

Time to Expand
By aggressively swooping into empty Johnny Rockets locations, BurgerFi exploded to roughly 75 outlets—some as far away as Dubai and Bahrain. For a moment, it looked bulletproof: fresh-cut fries, custard shakes, hormone- and antibiotic-free Angus beef, and a lineup that ranged from the straightforward BurgerFi Burger to the upscale CEO Wagyu, featuring truffle aioli and candied-ghost-pepper bacon.
But fast expansion came at a price as management shuffled and ingredient standards wavered. In November 2021, barely months after snatching top honors at the South Beach Wine & Food Festival Burger Bash, the chain filed for Chapter 11. It was a gut punch to fans who’d once crowed that this was “the best burger chain in South Florida.”
Enter TREW Capital, which disentangled BurgerFi from its coal-fired pizza sibling and then sold it to Michigan’s Savvy Sliders (the folks behind Happy’s Pizza and Fat Boy’s Pizza). Under Savvy’s 206-unit umbrella—and with a lone Sliders outpost in Tamarac—BurgerFi quietly regrouped.

On Friday, June 13, 2025, the chain rolls out its most ambitious menu relaunch yet. The essentials are back and sharper than ever:
- BurgerFi® Burger: Pure-beef simplicity—hormone- and antibiotic-free Angus, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, Fi-Sauce.
- Rodeo Burger: Charred jalapeños, pepper jack, crispy onions, and BBQ sauce for a hit of sweetness and smoke.
- CEO Wagyu Burger: Double Wagyu-brisket patties, tomato jam, truffle aioli, aged Swiss, and candied–ghost-pepper bacon—fine-dining flair in a brioche bun.
- SWAG (Spicy Wagyu): Double Wagyu-brisket, charred jalapeños, habanero-jack, Fi-Sauce, ghost-pepper bacon—for the truly fearless.

- Hand-Breaded Chicken Tenders: Three or five pieces with Texas toast and dipping sauce—plus a two-slider tender combo.

- Vegi-Fi Burger: A quinoa-and-veggie blend, available in Classic or Spicy, topped with cheese, lettuce, tomato, crispy onions, and Fi-Sauce.
- Spicy Fi-Falafel Sliders: Two smashed garbanzo patties, pepper mix, lettuce, tomato, Fi-Sauce—Falafel meets fast-casual.

The sides are also back, like the russet-cut fries, beer-battered onion rings, Cry N’ Fry mash-ups, and custard shakes in Vanilla, Chocolate, or the monthly special.

But longtime regulars will notice two glaring absences: the red velvet shake and BurgerFi’s beloved hot dog. BRING THEM BACK!
FinalFi Thoughts

This relaunch isn’t just fresh paint on an old marquee—it’s a bid to reclaim the buzz BurgerFi once rode to national headlines. If they stick the landing—delivering that perfect, no-nonsense burger experience—they might prove that South Florida’s original “Burgerification” still has room at the table.
If properly executed, many new folks will be turned onto the BurgerFi experience that South Floridians have known about for more than a decade.
