Have you heard of Pig Beach BBQ? They’ve got locations in Brooklyn, Queens, Boston, and—most importantly for those of us in South Florida—Palm Beach.
Now, if you’re sitting in Miami thinking, “Should I really drive all the way up there just for barbecue?”—the answer is yes. A loud, smoky, saucy YES.

Marcela and I were treated to this meal by one of the owners. While we appreciated the gesture, especially in this economy, it in no way affected my thoughts.
Smoked, Fried, and Sauced to Perfection

Let’s start with the wings. These aren’t your average bar wings. They’re first smoked, then fried, then tossed in your choice of Buffalo, BBQ, or White Sauce. Or, if you’ve got any sense, you ask for a mix of all three and thank me later. That white sauce alone is enough to start a cult following.
The BBQ Sampler Platter (aka The Trust Test)

Marcela and I went all in on the BBQ Sampler Platter, which is billed as enough for two people. Possibly more—if you’re with a liar who says they “don’t eat much.” Never trust those people.
Here’s what it comes with:
- 1/3 LB Pulled Pork
- 1/3 LB Smoked Turkey
- 1/3 LB Beef Brisket
- 3 Baby Back Ribs
- 1 Cheddar & Jalapeño Sausage Link
- 1 Side (we chose the Baked Beans with Smoked Meats)
- Pickled Red Onions and Housemade Pickles
The brisket was the front-runner for me, but that cheddar and jalapeño sausage was right on its heels. The smoked turkey though? That was the sleeper hit. Moist, flavorful, and not the boring lean protein you avoid on a BBQ menu. There’s a Turkey Club Sandwich on the menu now, and I get it.
The Burger That Won My Heart

Now, let’s talk burgers. You’ve probably heard that Pig Beach’s smash burger has won big at both the South Beach Wine & Food Festival Burger Bash and the NYC Wine & Food Festival Burger Bash. That’s no small feat.
But the one that stole the show for us was the 10 oz. American Wagyu steak burger on a house-baked bun.
- American cheese – check
- Thick-ass grilled onion slice – check
- Perfect bun baked in-house – check

No frills. No gimmicks. It’s just a heavy-duty, in-your-face kind of burger. You could make it “Briggie-Style” by adding pulled pork, but honestly, it doesn’t need anything else.
Days later, I’m still thinking about it.
Worth Every Mile

We drove 1 hour and 15 minutes for this meal, and didn’t regret a second of it. Marcela and I spent the whole ride home talking about how killer everything tasted.

Chef Matt Abdoo has a résumé that would make most chefs blush—Del Posto, Le Cirque, and so on. But none of that would matter if the food didn’t deliver. Thankfully, it more than delivers.
So yeah, make the trip. Eat the wings. Try the brisket. Order the burger. And when it’s all said and done, you’ll find yourself planning your next visit before you’ve even pulled out of the parking lot.
Two Last Thoughts

Yes, the sauces were great but we stuck to eating everything as it showed up on our table. And, lastly, the banana pudding is a must!
