Secret Burger Club – The Korean Dip – The Nottingham Food Blog

This week we took a trip over to the Crown Inn at Beeston to visit Secret Burger Club at their newest Wednesday night pop-up spot.

Recently I had been getting my fix of their burgers at the Royal Oak in Radcliffe on Trent where we had already been treated to a couple of new burger combinations in the form of The Chimichurri and the Patty Melt.

I read a story on the Socials where they said that they would be doing their latest special called the Korean Dip and that it would be one night only. Now at that point I was already interested but when they said that they thought it was the ‘Best burger that they had made’ well I just had to come and see if that was true or not!

THE KOREAN DIP

The menu describes the Korean Dip as a “Beef Patty, American Cheese, 12 Hour Korean Braised Short Rib, Gochujang Mayo, House Pickled Chilli’s, Beef Broth Dip” for £12.50

So basically you are getting a single patty topped with some braised short rib (12 hours in Matt’s slow cooker) mixed up with some tasty sounding Asian flavours and a pot of the juices from the cooker. Obviously it cannot really be that simple, can it?

THE KOREAN DIP

To be honest it sounded good before I even bit in! However I had my doubts that it would all work together. I was wrong it is a perfect marriage of flavours in a bun

The short rib is amazing and is the star of the burger, the Gochujang Mayo and the chillies add gentle spice and a cooling tangy bite with a little crunch. I feared they would overpower but they were perfect bedfellows

The kicker is the cup of broth that comes along with the burger as a dip. You could have drunk that on its own without the sandwich and been one happy soul but together it’s just fantastic

It reminded me of a classic Italian beef sandwich from Chicago, double dipped in Jus with melt in the mouth beef.

Well done chaps you had me at my first bite of a Duke Burger back in 2017, followed by the joy of eating all your other combinations and now you will have me desperately watching Instagram stories awaiting for the next outing of the Korean Dip!

Something I am quite happy to do 🤣😜😎❤️

I have to agree that the Korean Dip from Secret Burger Club is the best burger combination they have dreamt up so far! When I first heard them suggest as much I was curious as they have cooked up some truly fantastic ones so far

The only thing I could suggest to make this even better would be to have a double burger but that is just a personal customisation to make it more meaty.

Before today my favourites were in no particular order the Duke burger from their Classic range and of the Specials; The Doeback, the Animal Style, and the Bacon Dreamz (obviously).

In more recent times I scoffed all of them at Bustler in Nottingham (read more here)

But now they have turned my burger world upside down with some thing truly fabulous and irresistible, something that they admit will appear rarely and that you should grab whenever they put it on the menu

Secret Burger club can be found on a fairly regular basis at one of their scheduled pop-ups

The Crown Inn in Beeston on a Wednesday evening, Outside the Royal Oak in Radcliffe on Trent on a Thursday evening, and at the Milestone brewery in Cromwell, Newark on a Friday evening.

Apart from that keep an eye on their socials in particular their Facebook page and their Instagram profile, especially their Stories where they tend to post updates, details on weekly specials and any one-off events

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
