Wendy’s and Takis just dropped a spicy chicken sandwich that might burn your soul (in a good way). Leave it to Wendy’s to ask the question: “What if we took our spicy chicken sandwich and made it angry?”
Starting June 20th, Wendy’s is teaming up with Takis—the chili-lime powder kings of crunchy snacks—to create a full-blown flavor assault called the Takis Fuego Meal. It’s built around the Takis Fuego Chicken Sandwich, which stacks their seasoned, spicy chicken filet with crushed Takis chips, a chili-lime sauce, creamy corn spread (yes, that’s right), and a molten cheddar cheese sauce. It’s spicy. It’s crunchy. It’s messy. It’s everything you expect when someone throws a handful of Takis into a sandwich and makes it work.
But they didn’t stop there.
The fries? Tossed in chili lime seasoning and served in a small, distinctive bag that you tear open like a bag of chips. Gimmicky? Yeah. Fun? Also yeah. And if you go for the complete Takis Fuego Meal, they’ll throw in a bag of actual Takis, too—assuming they haven’t run out because some teenagers bought five meals to hoard them.
If that’s not enough spice for you, Wendy’s is also launching an in-app game called Spice Invasion, where you blast burgers with Takis chips. Play enough, and you might win ten grand. Or heartburn. Probably both.
Look, this isn’t for the flavor faint of heart. But if you live for heat—or want to see how far Wendy’s will go in the name of spicy collabs—this one’s worth the burn.
