The Original Sanguich de Miami in Little Havana

If you’re looking for a delicious Cuban Sandwich, look no further than SANGUICH de Miami. The original location is located on Calle Ocho in Little Havana and has become a destination for out-of-towners looking to eat a killer Cuban Sandwich.

Quick Info – SANGUICH on Calle Ocho

They have expanded their comfort food empire by adding locations in Little Haiti (6500 NE 2nd Ave, Miami) and Coral Gables, which is the only one currently serving breakfast. The newest restaurant is Bayside Marketplace (401 Biscayne Blvd, Miami) with a restaurant in the Aventura-area coming soon.

After a few solo visits to SANGUICH de Miami, Marcela finally made it. This isn’t her first time eating one of their sandos, but it is the first time she’s eaten one at the actual shop.

Marcela orders the Pan con Bistec. Me, I order the Pan con Lechon. She wants to go half-sies, which is an excellent idea. We get the party started right with chicharrones and boniato fries.

The chicharrones have a nice crunch, but the boniato fries are the side you should order. As a lifelong starch fan, I know these are next-level. Don’t forget to ask for a dipping sauce, although they might be tasty alone.

SANGUICH Sandwich Talk

A SANGUICH by any other name is just a sandwich…yeah right, this fella right here is the Pan con Bistec, a pan con bistec that leans heavily on being a cheesesteak relative. It is so close that I refer to it as a Cuban Philly.

Who else is going to serve sliced sous vide steak? No one but Sanguich does it this way, and it works deliciously well.

The Pan con Bistec lives happily on both my Best Pan con Bistec in Miami and Best Cheesesteaks in Miami lists.

The Pan con Lechon from SANGUICH De Miami is another game-changer. It features shredded pork, pickled mojo onions, and garlic cilantro aioli on pressed Cuban bread.

Everything was freakin’ great!

The menu has regular Cuban cafeteria milkshakes, but the Banana Milkshake was the chef’s kiss for me. I’m not much of a whipped cream guy, but I was so overwhelmed by the shake that I forgot everything about it.

Last but not least…not only one of the best in town, but this perfect cortadito should round out your meal.

SANGUICH Sauces

I love SANGUICH de Miami’s sandwiches. When they launched bottled sauces, I bought all four, but I’m particularly enamored with El Original.

These were retired shortly after I bought them, so I could never restock them in my fridge.

A limited-edition box of SANGUICH de Miami hot sauces, Havana GreenAjo Ardiente, and Guava Brava, is now available. The bottles are for sale individually or as a box at all restaurant locations.

What to Order for Breakfast

What if I told you that SANGUICH has a breakfast menu? That’s true, and it’s only available at their Coral Gables location.

Ham and Cheese Sandwich

In true SANGUICH fashion, there are no platters, only sandwiches. Let me rattle them off to you:

  • Ham, Egg, and Cheese
  • Bacon, Egg, and Cheese
  • Tomato, Egg, and Cheese
  • Ham and Cheese
  • Pan con Croqueta
  • Medianoche

The last three are available on all menus, but I have a truquito for you below for the ham and cheese. Let’s focus on the three breakfast sandos.

Let’s disqualify the tomato because with bacon and ham as options, it will never get any action from me. But, if you’re trying to keep your mornin’ veggie, then that’s your fella.

If we’re voting and we’re not, but it’s my blog, so I’d go with the bacon, egg, and cheese only cause that thick bacon is a champion.

Croquetas

You start with a couple of their fried-to-order croquetas and, of course, dunk your buttery tostada (Cuban toast) in the cortadito as if your life depended on it.

Then and only then will everything be right in the world.

Shh..It’s a Secret!

Here’s the secret menu item. Okay, so it’s not a secret menu, but more of a way to make a ham and cheese sandwich the Burger Beast way. Order the Miami Vice, then double ham, no lettuce or tomato, and you’re in business. You’re welcome.
