Food and Civil Supplies minister Rekha Arya clarified that ration will still be available to individuals even if their Electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) is not completed. There is no need to worry if individuals have not finished the e-KYC process due to missing thumbprints or retinal scans as they will continue to receive their quota of ration. Arya said that the e-KYC process for ration card holders is currently underway in all districts of the State. Although the Central Government has set November 30 as the deadline for this process, many e-KYCs remain incomplete in various parts of the State.
She said that during public meetings, numerous complaints had been received about the incomplete e-KYC due to issues such as unavailability of thumb scans, retinal scans or the head of the household being away for work. Additionally, some elderly individuals and those suffering from chronic illnesses have not completed their KYC. These ration card holders have expressed concerns about their ability to access rations after November.
In response, she instructed department officials to relax the ration distribution system for those who have not completed the e-KYC due to these circumstances. Subsequently, the commissioner directed all district supply officers to ensure that ration distribution does not stop in such cases. Families will be granted additional time to complete their e-KYC.
Further, Arya stated that instructions have been issued to ensure that outstanding dividends for ration sellers are paid within three days.
