4 Cartoons On the Fear of Hell

The fear of Hell is very real. Even though I spent years deconstructing my beliefs, the fear of Hell stuck to me like tar. Fear is very sticky, and it can take us a long time to get over it.

Even when we don’t believe in the things we’re afraid of. How many of us don’t believe in monsters, but are still scared of the dark and what lurks there?

I tell people that when you stop believing in Hell, at first the fear of Hell will be a yell. But eventually it will fade to just chatter. Then that will eventually fade to a whisper. Then an echo. Then silence. It takes longer for some than for others.

Here are some cartoons that I’ve drawn to address this fear.

Hell of an Art Show

I drew this one to show that even Jesus would be shocked at our cruel concept of Hell. It is unbelievable, shocking, and cruel. He doesn’t buy it.

I Don’t Think I Believe In Hell

I know a lot of people in therapy to overcome their fear of Hell. I’ve talked with some therapists who are pretty amazed at how deep this brainwashing on Hell goes. For some, it may take years to get over this irrational fear. But the work is worth it!

The Theology of Hell

Again, Jesus is portrayed as shocked at the horrible theology of Hell. I really do believe it was developed to terrify us into obedience. It’s a method of crowd control. Plain and simple.

Kids Going to Hell

Many people think indoctrinated our children on the concept of Hell is child abuse. I tend to agree. To submit a child to such unbelievable terrors is typical of cults and other high-control groups. Let’s end it now. They are too young for this!
