£72m ace has “already agreed personal terms in principle” to leave Liverpool
Tottenham are readying a massive bid for Cody Gakpo after the Dutchman told the Lily Whites that he wants to make the move to London in what could be a move that sets Liverpool’s final summer transfers in motion.
According to TEAMtalk journalist Graeme Bailey, Gakpo’s agents have met with Tottenham and agreed personal terms in principle, with Tottenham set to submit a bid to Liverpool
Bailey reports: “We understand Gakpo’s representatives have already agreed personal terms in principle with Tottenham and have now taken the next step by speaking directly with Liverpool’s hierarchy to make the player’s position clear.
“Gakpo has told the club that he does not see his long-term future at Anfield and wants the opportunity to move to Spurs.
“De Zerbi has made it clear to the winger’s camp just how important he could be to his plans in north London.
“Gakpo is understood to have been hugely impressed by what he has heard from the Tottenham head coach and believes the opportunity to play a major role in De Zerbi’s project is particularly attractive
“The Reds want more than £60million before they would consider allowing Gakpo to leave and, crucially, sources indicate Tottenham are prepared to meet that valuation with their upcoming bid.”
A recent claim suggests that Liverpool want as much as £72m to let Gakpo leave this summer.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Friday that Liverpool want to sign two new wingers, including Barcola, and “this depends on Cody Gakpo to Tottenham as talks continue.”

Liverpool not only need to generate income to fund what will be an incredibly expensive deal to bring Barcola to the club, but they also need to free up space in the squad to stay onside with non-homegrown player quotas, after the loan deal to sign Ronald Araujo used up the final available slot.
As far as upgrades go, Barcola for Gakpo is exactly what Liverpool need to take their attack to a new level.
A lot will also depend on who Liverpool sign for the right wing, with reports suggesting Ibrahim Mbaye is high on their list, but PSG are charging more than expected.
