Earlier this month, President Donald Trump signed into law his 2025 budget bill, which will have massive consequences for both health insurance access and the federal deficit. According to estimates from the Congressional Budget Office, 16 million Americans are set to lose health insurance as a result of the bill’s deep cuts to Medicaid, as well as other changes to the Affordable Care Act marketplace.
In a new poll, Data for Progress finds that while a majority of voters (53%) say the bill will cause Americans to lose health insurance coverage, only 38% think that more than 10 million Americans will lose coverage.
An additional 31% of voters believe that Americans will gain coverage or that coverage will remain the same, and 16% of voters are unsure.
