An Ode to Offending Drama Enthusiasts – Makaitah

Ah, what a glorious day to wake up on the wrong side of the bed, as if I had a choice in the matter. I can’t quite put my finger on why I’m in such a lousy mood today, but let’s just chalk it up to the universe playing a cosmic joke on me. Perhaps it’s the cumulative effect of all the absurd drama that unfolded during the illustrious month of September. Seriously, who even needs a reason to be grumpy, right?

Now, I’d like to believe that I’m a beacon of innocence and purity in a world full of conniving, calculative devils. But, oh boy, reality keeps smacking me in the face like a wet fish. I naively thought that bumping into the average, everyday hilly billy (yes, I said ‘hilly billy’) would be a harmless encounter. Little did I know, at my ripe old age and after countless experiences of betrayal, I really should have known better. It turns out, there are folks out there who have turned jealousy into a competitive sport, and they’re going for the gold medal.

It doesn’t take much to set these drama enthusiasts off. You could be walking down the street minding your own business, and someone will find a way to feel personally offended by your very existence. It might be the way you carry yourself that has them feeling like they’ve just been challenged to a duel. “How dare you walk confidently? Who do you think you are?” they mutter under their breath.

Honestly, you can’t even breathe without risking the wrath of someone’s delicate sensibilities. “Did you just inhale oxygen? You think you’re better than me, huh?” It’s exhausting to tiptoe around people just to avoid accidentally triggering their fragility.

And here’s the kicker: I, in all my well-intentioned glory, have spent a significant chunk of my life apologizing for the crime of being myself. I’ve tip-toed around folks, delicately avoiding conversations and actions that might offend their delicate sensitivities. It’s gotten so ridiculous that I’ve even considered tip-toeing on a tightrope just to keep the peace.

But guess what, my friends? I’ve had an epiphany. A revelation. A “Eureka!” moment, if you will. It’s perfectly acceptable not to be liked by everyone. In fact, it’s liberating! So, to all the drama enthusiasts out there who find offence in every breeze that rustles the leaves – I’ve got news for you. I’m going to walk, talk, and breathe however I darn well, please. If that offends you, well, maybe you should consider taking up a hobby, like collecting toenail clippings or knitting socks for one-legged squirrels.

In conclusion, life is too short to apologize for being yourself. So, go forth and be fabulous, and if someone gets offended along the way, just offer them a tissue for their dramatized tears. Cheers to embracing your true self and letting the haters hate!
