AutoShow Set To Showcase CTMP’s Future Vision

Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP), Canada’s Legendary Home of Motorsport, has a lot to celebrate at the upcoming Canadian International AutoShow. The track, which opened in June 1961, turns 65 in 2026 and kicks off its anniversary celebrations under new ownership, announced just last week.

Originally known as Mosport Park, CTMP is one of Canada’s most storied racing venues. Located just east of Toronto in Bowmanville, the multi-track facility features a 3.957-kilometre (2.459-mile) world-class road course, a dedicated Driver Development Centre, and a 1.5-kilometre (0.93-mile) karting track. Since opening, its challenging 10-turn layout has remained largely unchanged, earning international respect as a pure driver’s circuit.

From its earliest days, CTMP helped shape Canadian motorsport history. It attracted global attention with landmark events such as the Formula One Canadian Grand Prix, hosted until 1977, the Player’s 200, and the Can-Am Series. Over the decades, the track welcomed IMSA, USAC, NASCAR, Formula 5000, motorcycles, and countless amateur club racers. CTMP consistently drew record-setting crowds of go-fast fans and built a reputation as a proving ground for legends. In 2001, the circuit was updated and repaved to modern FIA standards while preserving its original character.

CTMP announced a new ownership group on December 11, 2025, led by Peter Thomson with partners Chris Pfaff and Alek Krstajic. The team is committed to preserving Mosport’s history, supporting its existing community of fans, teams, and event partners, and ensuring that all scheduled activities and operations continue uninterrupted. They recognize the significance of CTMP’s past and intend to honour that legacy while preparing the facility for its next era of growth.

A broader vision for the venue will be unveiled at the Canadian International AutoShow in February 2026, where the ownership group will share the roadmap for CTMP’s long-term development, investment strategy, and enhanced role within the Canadian motorsport and entertainment landscape.

“Canadian Tire Motorsport Park is a place with deep heritage and a loyal community. Our team is proud to be its next steward. We’re committed to respecting everything that makes CTMP special today, while building the foundation for an elevated experience in the years ahead. We look forward to sharing more of our vision this February at the Canadian International AutoShow,” said Chris Pfaff, CTMP Partner.

“In the minds of so many Canadian motorsport fans and automotive enthusiasts, CTMP is a truly special place, and one that we love to visit. We could not be happier to help CTMP celebrate 65 years and new ownership at our show this year,” said Jason Campbell, General Manager of the AutoShow.

To mark Canadian Tire Motorsport Park’s 65th anniversary and showcase its roadmap forward, the Canadian International AutoShow, in partnership with CTMP, will be unveiling a dedicated full-feature presentation on the 100 level of the North Building throughout the AutoShow.  Canadian Tire Motorsport Park – Celebrating Heritage and Racing to the Future will be a dedicated 6500 sq ft feature that will take visitors on a journey through CTMP’s storied past and offer a glimpse into its vision for what lies ahead.

Featuring a mix of compelling stories, archival images, and historical highlights, the exhibit will display iconic vehicles that have shaped CTMP’s legacy to the modern IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Series Pfaff Motorsports’ Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2, among other great vehicles.
