Beautiful Board Books that Inspire and Educate little ones

My First Touch and Trace : ABC Learn with Me!

I absolutely love that this alphabet themed board book for babies and toddlers begins with “Aa is for apple” and is actually apple shaped! It is a cute detail to the design of it, and adds even more appeal to those little hands that will be eager to have a hold of it. As with the example I have already utilised, you find both the capital letter and the lowercase letter for each of the alphabet being referred to on each page of the book… “Gg is for giraffe” for example, and the variety of examples featuring to bring the alphabet to life for little ones means there is much to learn about, all whilst learning the alphabet.

Given that the alphabet is the crucial foundation that all literacy is formed upon it is important to choose the right books early on to help with learning in a fun and engaging way, and this book definitely ticks all of those boxes – especially with the beautiful large illustrations that feature on each page within this book, clearly and rather adorably bringing things to life for your little ones.

I have shared this book with my nephew many times now and he LOVES it. He is a very clever 18 month old, and he is eager to learn new words, terms for things around him, and phrases too – and this book has played a big part in encouraging him with all of those things. He loves tracing the shape of the different letters of the alphabet with his fingertip, and hes recognising letters on things more too. This is a book I highly recommend to those with little ones who are eager to learn, explore, and enjoy a great book.

My First Touch and Trace : 123 Learn with Me!

Like with the ABC book that accompanies this one so well, the first thing you truly admire about them is how beautiful the illlustrations are. Within this book each two page spread features the respective number for little ones to trace with their fingers and then a full page illustration of an adorable example of that which the number corresponds with, for example 1 cat, 2 kites, and 3 squirrels. There is a real sense of depth and texture to the design of the illustrations, and it adds that element of authenticity to that which is being depicted, something that can all too often be missing from books for babies and toddlers. When sharing this book we came to enjoy recognising the different things within the book from our trips out and adventures together. My nephew loves spotting the neighbours “miaow” when we go for walks together, and we love looking out for bees and the apples in the tree of his back garden amongst other things, and seeing those things inside a book adds an element of magic to recognising and learning the names of those things he sees regularly. Being able to share with little ones the counting of the different examples on a page whilst teaching them what they are called is what makes this book a fabulous addition to your little ones library, especially given number recognition and counting to 10 are the building blocks that all mathmetical learning grows. These two books go hand in hand as two of the most amazing books to use with little ones when it comes to interactive content, beautiful illustrative content, and educational benefits.

My Bayeux ABC

I took my copy of this book over to my sister’s when I went over to visit my nephew, who will be two years old next month, and we read this book no less then five times within my visit. It was a huge success of a choice to take with me, and from the moment we wandered over to my backpack to see what had brought over for us to share he was a fan. He does recognise and love horses, so the gorgeous tapestry style horse on the front cover was likely the captivating component to this title from his view point, and that will be true of so many other little ones. I had no clue what to anticipate as far as the contents of this book, but when ever there is a book published by Nosy Crow in collaboration with The British Museum I know from experience they do not disappoint. That was definitely true of My Bayeux ABC.

As I read out the different letters and the respective bayeux example aloud I found it profoundly interesting how engrossed my nephew would be in the beautifully illustrated tapestry designs depicting each part of a history that is all too easily forgotten in a world of modern technology and AI. Neither of those was a part of this book and yet it held more fascination from my little one then any toy we had played with prior to and inbetween sharing this book. It was my nephew asking for us to read this book again and again, and I concluded my visit by leaving it with him having seen how much he loved this book, and know he has shared it several times over with his mummy and daddy since too.

It is also note worthy that when I read out each of the twenty six bayeux related examples featured within this gorgeous board book, which includes not just monarchy but also equipment and things that held significance, and my nephew had no issue attempting to say them and was successful with many of them. It was such an adorable experience to have with him, and I will cherish it forever. It is well researched and evidenced that a child’s love of reading and books is achieved with success if done from an early age, and this book not only achieved that but it did so whilst introducing a love of both historical content in books, history as a subject, and an appreciation for the content of the bayeux tapestry style through utilising it directly in the illustrations, something that will be new to not only little ones but some adults sharing the book too. I love books that not only captivate the audience through the beautiful illustrative side, but also inspire you through the content as a whole – and this book does that in leaps and bounds.
