Airalo is one of the biggest names in the eSIM space, and for good reason. We’ve used them on several trips over the years and the experience has consistently been smooth, from purchasing a plan to getting connected after landing.
When we compared prices across all of the major providers, Airalo esim landed somewhere in the middle for Spain. They’re rarely the cheapest option, especially for larger data plans, but they also aren’t among the most expensive.
Where Airalo continues to shine is the overall experience. Their app is polished, setup takes just a few minutes, and their Spain plans run on Orange’s network, providing reliable coverage throughout the country.
Another area where Airalo stands out is customer support. If you run into issues before or during your trip, we’ve generally found their team to be quick to respond and much easier to work with than many of the smaller eSIM providers.

aloSIM is another one that we’ve used quite a bit, mainly because their StackSocial deal pops up throughout the year and can save you around 50%.
Looking at the comparison table, aloSIM’s Spain plans are priced similarly to Airalo, so they’re not exactly the cheapest at full price. Once you factor in the StackSocial discount, though, they become much more competitive and offer much better value.
One thing we do like about aloSIM is that their unlimited plans are reasonably priced compared to many competitors. Just keep in mind that they include a 2GB daily high-speed allowance before speeds are reduced to 512 Kbps for the rest of the day.
Quality-wise, the app was easy to use, the internet connection speeds were stable, and we didn’t encounter any problems while using it before.

Amigo SIM
Amigo SIM might not be a provider you’ve heard much about, but they partner with two of Spain’s largest mobile networks – Orange and Vodafone – which gives them solid coverage throughout the country. Like most travel eSIMs, these are data-only plans, so don’t expect a local phone number.
When we compare their Spain pricing, Amigo SIM sits on the higher end. Their fixed-data plans cost more than many of the other providers in our comparison, so they can be a tough sell if you’re simply looking for the best value.
The biggest drawback is that they don’t offer unlimited data plans. If you’re a heavy data user or just don’t want to worry about running out of data during your trip, you’ll probably want to look elsewhere.

Eskimo
Not one of the biggest names in the eSIM market, but we first discovered Eskimo because they were giving away free global eSIMs when you signed up.
What makes Eskimo different from most providers comes down to four things: 1) their eSIM stays valid for up to 2 years, 2) they use a single reusable eSIM, 3) they offer data rollover, and 4) they support data transfers between users.
The single eSIM is probably our favorite feature. Instead of installing a new eSIM every time you visit a different country, you simply keep the same one installed and purchase a new plan whenever you need it.
Data rollover is another nice bonus. If you don’t use all of your data in Spain, you can carry the remaining balance over when you top up later instead of letting it go to waste.
Lastly, Eskimo lets you transfer data to another Eskimo user. If you’re traveling around Spain with friends or family, you can share data with someone who’s running low instead of everyone buying separate top-ups. It’s a feature that very few eSIM providers currently offer.

eSIMx
If you’ve read our guide to the cheapest eSIMs for travel, you’ll know that eSIMX consistently comes out as one of the lowest-priced providers. The same is true for Spain, where they easily undercut most of the competition.
Overall, eSIMX is a bit more no-frills than some of the bigger brands. They do have an app, but it isn’t quite as polished as what you’ll get with providers like Airalo or aloSIM.
At the end of the day though, it’s hard to argue with the pricing. Their Spain plans are among the cheapest across every data tier we compared, and even their unlimited plans cost significantly less than most competitors.
The main trade-off is that hotspot sharing is capped at 5GB. That won’t matter to everyone, but if you plan on tethering a laptop or sharing your connection with multiple devices, it’s something worth keeping in mind.

Flexiroam
If you have an eligible Mastercard, Flexiroam is worth taking a look at. They have an ongoing partnership that gives cardholders 20% off all eSIM plans, and some World and World Elite Mastercard holders even receive free global data eSIMs each year.
One thing we don’t love about Flexiroam is that they don’t commit to any specific connection speeds. Instead, they simply state that your eSIM will connect to the strongest available network in Spain.
That’s generally fine in practice, but we’d still like to know whether 5G is available. Their unlimited plans are also a bit vague since they don’t disclose what “low speed” actually means after you exceed the 3GB daily fair-use limit.
Looking at the pricing, their fixed-data plans are fairly competitive for Spain, especially if you can take advantage of the Mastercard discount. The downside is that they don’t offer as many data options as other providers, so you may end up buying more data than you actually need.
Lastly, Flexiroam includes a FlexiShare feature that lets you transfer fixed-data plans to friends or family who also have an active Flexiroam eSIM. It’s a handy feature if you’re traveling as a group and one person ends up needing extra data.

Similar to Flexiroam, GigSky has a partnership with Visa that gives eligible cardholders a free global data plan each year. Depending on the promotion, that usually means a free fixed-data plan that you can use in Spain or many other destinations.
We’ve also used GigSky thanks to one of their free eSIM promotions. New users typically receive a small amount of complimentary data after signing up, making it an easy way to try the service before committing to a larger plan.
Looking at the pricing, GigSky performs much better in Spain than it does in some other destinations. Their fixed-data plans are among the cheapest in our comparison, especially the 10GB option. While their unlimited plans aren’t the lowest-priced, they’re still competitive and become even more attractive if you can take advantage of the Visa benefit or one of their regular promotions.

One feature we really like is that you’re not locked into fixed durations. Instead, you can choose the exact number of days you need, whether it’s a short city break or a month-long trip around Spain.
The main drawback is their hotspot limit. While many competitors either don’t mention a cap or allow much more, Holafly limits hotspot usage to 1GB. That’s enough for light use, but if you plan on tethering a laptop or sharing your connection with someone else, you’ll likely run into that limit fairly quickly.
Looking at the pricing, Holafly sits somewhere in the middle. They aren’t the cheapest unlimited option for Spain, even after applying our discount code, but they do offer a good balance of flexibility, broad network coverage, and straightforward unlimited plans.

If you’ve read our guide to the cheapest eSIMs for travel, you’ll know that Maya Mobile is one of the more competitively priced providers, especially when it comes to unlimited data. For Spain, their 30-day unlimited plan is noticeably cheaper than many of the other unlimited options in our comparison.
Maya Mobile keeps things simple. One thing that surprises many travelers is that they don’t have a dedicated mobile app. Instead, everything from buying your eSIM to checking your remaining data and topping up is handled through their website.
For Spain, Maya Mobile gives you 3GB of high-speed data each day on its unlimited plans. Once you go over that limit, speeds are reduced to 10 Mbps, which is still fast enough for things like streaming, video calls, and browsing. Wifi Hotspot
We’ve been a huge fan of wifi hotspot devices such as PokeFi (use code GAP24300) because their rates are are hard to beat and it works globally. Solis is another that we recommend. Pros are that you can share the wifi with your whole group but cons are that you have to invest in a device and you have to charge it every night.
Hotels
Our go-to is Booking.com because they have the best inventory of properties including hotels and B&Bs plus they have their Genius tier discounts. Expedia is also worth using especially with their One Key rewards program which is basically like cash. The exception is Asia where Agoda always has the best prices. Always do a quick check on TripAdvisor as well.
Tours and Activities
When planning our trips, we always check both Viator and GetYourGuide to at least see what’s out there in the destination that we’re going to. They often have different offerings and prices so check both.
