Change is bound to come, and so it has. At the risk of being dramatic, after nine years and countless posts in this space, I have decided to close up shop and move across town to Substack. I’ll be sure to leave a forwarding address below, but before I do I just wanted to say thank you reader who has frequented my page and read through my musings. I don’t take your presence for granted and have loved the conversation, the enthusiastic agreement, and even the respectful disagreement with my obsessive music lists and opinions.
I’m also under no pretense that you’ll drop everything and follow me across town to keep up with my thoughts on music and life, (though I’d love it if you do!) so this might be goodbye. If it is, genuinely—thank you. I get it—another platform, another app with notifications to download and to manage. Another one that’s going to offer you the chance to “support” me financially, which could be seen as pressure. I was torn and I still am on the “why now” and the “what will be different” questions. I hate self-promotion or asking for money, but I’m going to have it as an option. Please hear me clearly, there is no pressure from me to you to pay for my content, only an invitation.
I would simply say, if you love what you read, if my writing brings joy and value to you, please consider co-creating with me. That’s what financial support, that’s what liking, sharing, and comments on posts do—it joins the conversation and widens its reach. It also co-creates with the artists being written about, helping spread the word and busting through the algorithmic gatekeepers. Additionally, it encourages me and provides a little extra added motivation to finish, to keep going.
That said, I love music, lists, retrospectives and I will be offering any who decides to join the option of monthly, yearly, or one-time financial gifts as a way to encourage me and fund what would ultimately be my dream job. Writing about music. Wrestling with meaning. Making connections with fellow obsessive music fans. Encouraging indie artists.
So practically, this space will remain open for awhile (maybe all of 2026, maybe less, we’ll see), and some of the content will stay as is for you to return to. Some have been taken down to repurpose into what I hope will be a book on music, meaning, and nostalgia. (Fingers crossed!) Lastly, some will be repurposed or reposted at the new address.
