Man United are targeting young defender Jorge Salinas. The young Spanish left back has also received interest from Barcelona. Man United are planning to give competition to the Spanish giants for the Real Racing Club youngster. Although reports suggest that Salinas has already made his preferred choice.

As reported by Yahoo Sports, Manchester United have grown to be strong suitors to recruit youngster Jorge Salinas. The talented left back has high potential in him and has a good reputation among Spain’s emerging talents category. Initially, Barcelona were seriously monitoring Salinas before Man United joined the transfer battle.

Jorge Salinas is the academy graduate of Real Racing Club in Spain. Their academy is Rayo Cantabria which currently competes in Segunda Federacion, the fourth division of Spanish football. Currently the left back is playing for the senior team, Real Racing. He is now an established first team starter and is a regular name in the backline. The 19-year-old made his debut for the first team in the 2024-25 campaign in La Liga 2.

What is Barcelona’s plan of action for Jorge Salinas?

As reported by Diario AS, Jorge Salinas has a €16m release clause in his contract with Real Racing. Barca’s director, Deco has set his first and foremost focus on improving the attack. The Blaugrana official feels the need of strengthening the frontline, especially after the exit of Robert Lewandowski to MLS side Chicago Fire. The Spanish giants’ another centre forward, Ferran Torres is linked to a move to PSG. Signing a new striker is definitely on the cards.

But Barcelona are also considering to bring a quality left back. They want to add more strength to the left side of their backline before the end of the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, Joao Cancelo is very close to join Barca on a permanent basis from Al-Hilal. Along with that, the Spanish champions are hesitating to trigger the €16m release clause and want to negotiate a lower fee. They have placed a bid of €8m( €6m guaranteed+ €2m bonuses). These two things have encouraged Man United to explore a move for Jorge Salinas. But the report suggests that the Spanish youngster favours a move to Barcelona. This preference may give the La Liga side a slight advantage.
