Today I’m going to write about my favorite legendary metal thrash band that song I’ve grown up listening to! Metallica! They’ve finally released a new, long, awaited single for their loyal fans!Â
To those who don’t know who are Metallica ( You gotta be born Gen Z and above I guess!) Not to worry, here’s some lil’ info about them.Â
About MetallicaÂ
Metallica is an American heavy metal band that was formed in 1981 in Los Angeles by vocalist and guitarist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich and has been based in San Francisco for most of its career. The band’s fast tempos, instrumentals, and aggressive musicianship made them one of the founding “big four” bands of thrash metal.
Metallica first found commercial success with the release of its third album, Master of Puppets (1986), which is cited as one of the heaviest metal albums and the band’s best work but it was the fifth album, Metallica (1991), was a turning point for the band that saw them transition from their thrash roots; it appealed to a more mainstream audience, achieving substantial commercial success and selling more than 16 million copies in the United States to date, making it the best-selling album of the SoundScan era.Â

Metallica New Single ‘Too Far Gone’
On April 14th, 2023, Metallica released its eleventh studio album, titled 72 Seasons. Metallica has sold more than 125 million albums worldwide with over 67 million records in the United States alone (56.3 million albums since 1991 when SoundScan started tracking actual sales figures)
And with that, surprisingly on August 6th, 2023 last month, marked the release of “Too Far Gone?” by Metallica live from MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey in front of thousands of fans. Which sees the new single capturing the debut M72 tour performance of the 72 Seasons standout track as played for some 80,000 fans on night two of the tour’s North American opening weekend.Â
Hailed for “its roaring melody” by the OC Register in their review of Metallica’s recent record-breaking weekend at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, “Too Far Gone?” has quickly become a staple of the M72 No Repeat Weekend setlist rotation.Â

Cameo From Tony Hawk in ‘Too Far Gone’ Music Video?Â
As for the original studio version of “Too Far Gone? It’s been reimagined as a music video directed by Coan “Buddy” Nichols (The Original Skateboarder, The Body Corporate, Deathbowl to Downtown, Love Letters to Skateboarding)Â
Through Nichols’ lens, “Too Far Gone?” becomes the score to raw Metallica performance footage intercut with action shots of pro skater Felipe Nunes.Â
The energy levels of the two scenarios feed off one other, resulting in peak after peak of hyperkinetic intensity—plus a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo from Tony Hawk, who premiered the video directed by Coan “Buddy” Nichols yesterday.
Metallica M72 World Tours
Metallica recently completed the first North American swing of its M72 World Tour on September 9 in Glendale AZ.Â
The band had already made a headlining appearance on October 8 at Power Trip at the Empire Polo Club in Indio California and the M72 continues its tours with its next No Repeat Weekend taking place November 3 and 5 at the Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
