Purple and Gold Tray Makeover

I love how this purple and gold tray turned out!! Sometimes what you plan isn’t the plan, and things work out so much better instead!

Hello beautiful friends!!

I’m sharing a tray makeover today. I love trays and making them over. The one I’m making over today is one of two I used to have on my coffee bar. I actually picked up two different trays at the thrift store yesterday, though. So, stay tuned for those!

I used one on each side to protect the top. I’ve since had a thick piece of glass cut, so I got rid of these two trays. (You know, off to the garage they went!! haha)

A light blue dresser in the sunroom holds a coffee station with a coffee maker, mugs, glasses, and supplies. Above, two white shelves display cans, mugs, a basket, and a plant. A starburst decor hangs on the white wall.

A wooden tray with black handles sits on a marble countertop, perfectly complementing the results of a recent table makeover. In the background, there are floating shelves with decor items, including frames, a star, and plants—a charming display that highlights subtle touches of furniture restoration throughout the space.

Nothing special, just a wood tray with black handles.

The wood was a little rough, so since I planned to paint it, I added some wood filler to smooth it out.

A metal scraper spreads wood filler on a wooden tray during a furniture redo. Nearby are a black coffee cup with a lid and a container of DAP Plastic Wood Filler on a white marble countertop, setting the stage for an inspiring table makeover.

I pulled the tabs off the back and removed the hardware.

And sanded the tray smooth once the wood filler was dry.

I used one of my favorite whites, Victorian Lace.

A hand holds a paintbrush applying white paint to a flat wooden surface, capturing the transformative process of a Table Makeover; some paint splatters are visible on the brush and surrounding area, highlighting this moment of Furniture Restoration.

Then here is the vision: Beautiful gold script lettering.

A package labeled “Maxi Transfers Sweet Notes” with a sheet featuring vintage cursive handwriting in brown ink—perfect for your next petite table or table makeover. A hand holds the package, and part of a black-and-white photo is visible at the bottom.

With gold handles. I sprayed them gold to match.

A white tray with a gold handle sits on a light wooden surface, adding a touch of elegance to your Petite Table Makeover. The tray’s bottom features cursive script text in gold, and the lower right corner has a circular logo with the letters acn.

I trimmed it to fit…

A hand holds a strip of white paper with gold cursive writing, matching a larger sheet with similar script above—perhaps inspiration for an elegant furniture makeover. The text is decorative and partially obscured, suggesting the refined finishing touches often used in a petite table or table makeover project. The bottom right corner has a circular logo with acv.

Then realized that the two pieces that come in this transfer set are completely different!

Two handwritten letters in brown ink on white paper, viewed at an angle atop a petite table; one letter is partially covered by a clear shiny sheet, creating reflections and making some words difficult to read—a charming detail for any furniture makeover.

I had planned to piece them together across the whole bottom of the tray.

And then place the pretty purple flower right in the middle over top of the script.

A hand holds a transparent sheet with a large purple flower design over a printed page with cursive writing on a white, marbled surface, hinting at creative ideas for furniture restoration or an upcoming petite table makeover.

Instead, I decided to use one page of the script on the left, and the purple flower on the right.

A white-framed piece of art displays elegant brown handwritten script in another language on white paper, set on a marble surface—perfect for adding a touch of sophistication to your next petite table or furniture makeover. The lower right corner has a small circular logo with the letters acy inside.

You know what?? I actually like it better than if I’d had the gold script all over and the flower in the middle. Love how things work out like that!!

A hand holds a 500 mL bottle of Fusion Mineral Paint Tough Coat Matte in front of a floral print with cursive writing in the background, the perfect choice for your next Petite Table or Furniture Makeover.

I used Tough Coat Matte Topcoat to seal and protect the transfer. Replaced the hardware and done!

I love gold script! It just elevates everything.

That gold spray paint I used (linked above) is the perfect shade of gold.

Stay tuned for the matching tray. I’m sure I’ll do something with it!

PIN it to save it!

Have a blessed weekend, friends!!

The word Nancy is written in elegant, flowing black script, reminiscent of Chalk Style Paint For Furniture, with a heart shape used to form the dot above the letter i. The background is plain white.
