Which books are worth the read and which should you skip? Find out what books I’ve been reading lately and whether I recommend them.
September has treated me well. I got new windows that won’t leak every time it rains. Some patio furniture so I can read on my porch. Taylor Swift dropped new music and a music video that inspired me to write a book list. And I got plenty of books to read – new releases and old favorites alike.
I surprisingly got through 12 books this month considering September is smack dap in the middle of my busiest time when soccer and cross country collide. My calendar is a fine tuned affair and I’ve been making sure I block off reading and blogging time every day.
From my favorite book of the month (The Calamity Club) to my least favorite (Life Out of Order), scroll down to see my reviews, and, as always, be sure to let me know what you’ve been reading lately in the comments!

People We Meet on Vacation
Emily Henry
Poppy and Alex have been best friends forever even though she’s a wild child full of wanderlust and he’s an introverted bookworm. Although she lives in New York City and he still lives in their hometown, every year they take a week-long vacation together. Until two years ago, when their trip ended in a falling out. Now Poppy convinces Alex to take one final vacation with her in an attempt to fix their relationship … and maybe even fall in love.
The fist time I read People We Meet on Vacation, I wasn’t very impressed. Despite liking the push and pull of Poppy and Alex’s relationship, I found the lack of communication grating. However, after loving the recent movie adaptation, I decided it was time for a reread. After watching the movie, I feel like I understood Poppy and Alex better and I really can see how they felt torn between wanting more but not feeling good enough. With a heavier focus on character development, Emily Henry always writes the kind of romances I enjoy reading.

Vanderbilt
Anderson Cooper and Katherine Howe

The Time Traveler’s Wife
