Goodreads Synopsis:

Looking at the greatest speeches of all time, you’d be forgiven for thinking that Elizabeth I and Boudica were about the only women to have dipped a toe into the pool of public oratory. But the truth is very different – countless brave and bold women have used their voices to inspire change, transform lives and radically alter history.

In this timely and personal anthology, Yvette Cooper MP tells the story of 30 inspirational speeches given by women. From Boudica to Margaret Thatcher and from Malala to gun-control activist Emma Gonzalez, each speech will be reproduced in full and introduced by Yvette. This is not only a much-needed celebration of women’s speeches throughout history, but also proof that powerful and persuasive oratory can be decidedly female.

She Speaks is a collection of speeches from women around the world from different period. Reading this one of a kind book wasn’t only empowering but also opens my eyes to many trivial things today but was denied to women then. Women around the world have been fighting for their rights every single day so we could be who we are today.

How many times have you been silenced or kept from voicing your opinion just because you’re a woman? I realized the freedom that we woman have today was won after countless hours and tireless fights.

It is an easy and straightforward book. What seems like filled with manuscript of speeches also accompanied by the author’s personal narratives and views. She eases you to understand about the next speech we are getting into. It was helpful for me as i don’t actually know what am I getting into.

Also, many of the speeches revolved around politics. It’s easy for me to express how I am not a fan of politics but it’ll be unfair to those who gave their all to give me what I have today. Am I right?

I enjoyed this important and evocative book. I learned that when things don’t seem right it fair, it’s important to voice out our dissatisfaction. It’s crucial to stand up for what is right.
