The Book Angels Are For Real

I’ve always found the subject of angels fascinating, and recently, I stumbled upon a book called Angels Are for Real” by Judith MacNutt. I first heard about it through an interview she did on a Christian TV show, and I was immediately drawn to her insights. Not only is Judith a psychotherapist, but her understanding of angels in the Bible and her genuine, kind spirit made me want to learn more. It’s rare to find someone who can marry clinical psychology with solid biblical truth, and Judith does just that.

Her book, “Angels Are for Real”, shares how these heavenly beings, created by God, have a role in protecting and guiding us. I have to admit, I was intrigued.

But, like many of you, I’m cautious when it comes to books that deal with spiritual beings.

With the rise of New Age teachings and ideas that often distort the biblical truth about angels, I’ve learned to be careful about where I place my trust.

As much as angels are talked about in today’s world, I’ve noticed that many people are misled by ideas that have nothing to do with what the Bible says about them.

The idea of “friendly spirits” and fallen angels masquerading as helpful beings is real.

So I think it’s crucial that we, as Christians, understand what the Bible truly says about angels.

After all, angels are for real, but they’re not the same as the whimsical or deceptive portrayals found outside of Scripture.

So let’s take a closer look at what God’s Word says about these fascinating, powerful beings, and how this knowledge brings me—and hopefully you—comfort.

Angels Are for Real: A Biblical Perspective

Angels are more than just figments of imagination or fantasy; they are real, and the Bible is full of accounts where angels are sent by God to fulfill His will.

They are spiritual beings created to serve and glorify God.

When I think about angels, I picture them as messengers of God’s truth, protectors of His people. They are God-created beings sent to comfort us in times of need.

Again, God created them, and they are continually at work on our behalf.

This is why I can confidently say that angels are for real, and their presence is something we can rely on in our everyday lives.

One of the most famous angelic appearances in the Bible occurs in the book of Genesis.

When Abraham and Sarah were promised a child, three angels visited them to deliver the message that Sarah would give birth to Isaac (Genesis 18:1-15).

I love this story because it shows that God uses angels to bring His promises to fruition. The angels didn’t just appear out of nowhere—they had a purpose.

God was at work through them, delivering a message of hope and future blessing.

Daniel’s Encounter with Angels

Similarly, in the book of Daniel, the angel Gabriel appears to Daniel with a powerful message.

Daniel 9:21-22 describes how Gabriel delivered crucial insights regarding the future and God’s divine plan for Israel. Again, angels are not aimless wanderers; they are dispatched for specific, God-ordained tasks.

This reinforces the fact that angels are for real and have a significant role in God’s plan.

The depiction above is from Daniel 10:5-6:

I looked up and there before me was a man dressed in linen, with a belt of fine gold from Uphaz around his waist.
His body was like topaz, his face like lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze, and his voice like the sound of a multitude.

Mary’s Experience with an Angel

In the New Testament, angels show up again and again to deliver messages of great importance. One of the most famous instances is in the book of Luke when the angel Gabriel visits Mary to announce that she will conceive Jesus, the Son of God (Luke 1:26-38).

Mary was perplexed, but the angel reassured her that nothing is impossible with God.

Geez!

Just imagine being in her shoes—a young woman, suddenly visited by an angel, with news that would forever change the course of history.

Yes, angels are for real, and their role in the story of salvation is undeniable.

The pièce de résistance

And who could forget the angelic announcement of Jesus’ birth to the shepherds?

In Luke 2:8-14, a host of angels appeared in the sky to proclaim the birth of the Savior.

The message they delivered was one of joy and peace for all people, and this declaration was not only for the shepherds but for us today.

Angels bring messages of hope, reassurance, and God’s glory, and it’s through them that we are reminded of the power of God’s love.

If any other spiritual being visits you, rebuke it and call on Jesus!

The Comfort of Knowing Angels Are for Real

I can’t help but find comfort in the fact that angels are for real, and they are actively working on our behalf.

It’s so reassuring to know that when we face difficult times, we’re not alone.

We have the Holy Spirit, we have Jesus, and we have ministering spirits commissioned by God.

In fact, the Bible tells us that angels are sent to protect us and minister to us in our times of need. Psalm 91:11 says, “For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.”

This verse has always been a source of peace for me. I’ve prayed it over my children for years.

I love it. No matter what I’m going through, I can trust that God has assigned His angels to watch over me.

Another comforting verse is Hebrews 1:14, which tells us that angels are “ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation.”

What a beautiful reminder that as believers, we are not left to navigate life’s challenges alone.

God’s angels are here to help us, protect us, and guide us in ways we might not even see or understand. This knowledge gives me peace, knowing that God’s divine protection is always in place.

The Authority We Have Over Angels

One of the most powerful things I’ve learned is that, as believers, we have authority in Christ over the angels.

We are not to worship angels, as they are servants of God.

But we can confidently trust in their protection and guidance.

And that’s where the comfort comes in for me—angels are for real, but they are servants of the Almighty, sent to protect and guide us.

Psalm 91:11 tells us that the Lord commands them – that is, Who we worship – God.

I find great peace in knowing that God has given us authority, not to command the angels, but to trust in His perfect plan for our lives.

Angels are not meant to be our personal servants, but rather, they work according to God’s will, acting in obedience to Him.

In the same way that God uses angels to fulfill His purposes in the Bible, He continues to use them to serve His people today.

Can I get an AMEN for that? I am writing and making myself happy!

One of the most powerful reminders of this is found in 2 Kings 6:16-17.

Angels are for real

Elisha Saw and We Should See!

When Elisha and his servant were surrounded by an enemy army, Elisha prayed that God would open his servant’s eyes to see the heavenly hosts protecting them.

God answered his prayer, and the servant saw the chariots of fire that surrounded them.

The angelic army was there, providing protection and guidance. It’s a beautiful picture of how angels are for real, and that we are never without help when we trust in God.

A Caution Against New Age Teachings

As I mentioned earlier, angels are for real, but not all teachings about angels align with the truth of Scripture.

The New Age movement or Spiritualism (I wrote about that), for instance, offers a distorted view of angels, often portraying them as spiritual beings that serve our own personal desires.

New Age teachings emphasize self-power and self-worship, whereas the Bible consistently directs us back to God as the source of our strength and protection.

For example, the New Age movement promotes practices like astrology, meditation, and crystal healing—none of which are found in the Bible.

As Christians, our focus should NOT be on the universe but on the One who created it.

Angels, in the Bible, are never seen as tools for personal empowerment or self-improvement; they are servants of God, working on His behalf.

We must be cautious not to mix the biblical truth about angels with the philosophies of this world.

Be careful of saying you are “manifesting” things and such. All that is not of God.

Colossians 2:18 warns us against false teachings, saying, “Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you.”

Angels are not meant to be worshipped or glorified in any way—they are meant to point us to Christ.

If any “angelic encounter” leads us away from Jesus or contradicts the Bible, it is not of God.

I may sound redundant, but I want to make sure you hear and understand.

Read the book, A Beautiful Side of Evil. It is really telling. However, it also shows God’s ability to redeem those who are lost.

How to Discern True Angelic Encounters

With all this in mind, I think it’s important to recognize the ways in which angels are for real and how we can discern their presence in our lives. Here are a few things to remember when it comes to true angelic encounters:

  1. Angels always point us to Jesus. The primary role of angels is to glorify God and point people toward Christ. If any “angelic message” does not align with the message of the Gospel, it is not of God.
  2. Angels never contradict God’s Word. If any angelic message directs us to do something contrary to Scripture, it is not from God. Angels always act in accordance with the truth of God’s Word.
  3. Angels never allow worship. In Revelation 22:8-9, when John attempted to worship an angel, the angel stopped him, saying, “Do not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers and sisters who hold to the testimony of Jesus.” True angels will always direct our worship to God alone.
  4. Angels are messengers and servants. They bring God’s message and carry out His will. They do not exist to serve our personal desires, but rather to fulfill God’s purposes.
Angels are for real

Aren’t you encouraged????

Angels are for real, and I am so thankful for their presence in my life.

Whether they’re protecting me, guiding me, or delivering God’s messages, I can trust that God has angels watching over me.

As Christian women, this truth should give us peace and comfort, knowing that we are not alone in our struggles. We have divine protection, and the angels of the Lord are at work, fulfilling God’s perfect will for us.

If you ever feel alone or fearful, remember that angels are for real, and they are at work on your behalf. Trust in God’s Word, and know that His heavenly hosts are always ready to serve and protect you.

Angels are for real

Beware of the New Age movement.

The New Age movement represents all kinds of spiritual and metaphysical worldviews.

The New Age movement encompasses a wide array of beliefs, practices, and ideologies that place emphasis on oneself. The power it references is usually inside the person. It also doesn’t reference Jesus or Christian texts. That’s because it is a counterfeit. It’s an evil misrepresentation or distortion of God and His ways.

They push meditation, astrology, crystal usage, and alternative healing methods, all in pursuit of a deeper understanding of the self and the universe. Christians are not interested much in the universe but are interested in the ONE who created it.
