Review

This movie is so cute. Its been describe as Babe meets Knives Out. While it has sheep that are amusing for young kids, this is more then a dumb kid’s movie mostly appeal to kids. Adults will appreciate the mature undertone

What Sheep Detectives does well is show the emotional bond between the farmer and his sheep, that when the farmer is murder (not a spoiler) there a deep connection to the sheep wanting to find the murderer.

Like how each sheep has their own personality. The main sheep are Lily and Wool-eye. There Sebastian who a ram that a loner and its found out in the movie why he that way that is heart breaking. Sebastian help push the other sheep out of their comfort zone.

The human characters are interesting as well. The mystery is a basic whodunit but, its the plausible motives behind each character makes it interesting. The sheep solving the mystery while making fun of classic murder mysteries is done in a clever way.

While the movie being about a murder mystery already sets the tone, there are some dark scenes that young kids might find scary.

Don’t let the silliness of the sheep fool you, there are some toughing moments that will pull at your heart strings. Kids will like the sheep and an older audience will appreciate an emotional story with a well constructed mystery.
