Lots of insane news this morning and of course there would be. It’s a day ending in a y and Donald Trump is in office. Trump got noinated for a Nobel Peace Prize by Buddy Carter, a Georgia congressman who seeks Trump’s endorsement in the Georgia Senate race. And we’re sure he just got it. The irony here is a little skewed, as always: bombing a country for peace is a bit like burning a pile of books, in the name of literacy. But remember the people we deal with and it all makes sense. Trump’s new game, if it’s not glaringly obvious to you, is that he is the ultimate peace maker of all time. Pure bullhit but expect a lot of political theater. Let’s start out with this.

Remember back in 2016 when it was devoutly hoped that Trump would finally “become presidential?” And we never saw that? But we were told it was just around the corner, just the moment that he understands how it’s supposed to be. No, Trump is the anti-president and he’s the anti-American, when you come right on down to it. But here he is and stuck with him we are.

The ceasefire was scheduled for 4:00 a.m. Tehran time and it has been in effect. But of course Trump is going to make this dramatic. He’s now the Godfather Of Foreign Affairs, pulling the strings. That’s the pitch he’s making to the rubes. And Fox News is picking right up on it.

Oh yes, 34 Nobel Peace Prizes. Now will he get them all at once or once a year — which will make him 112 or 113 when he gets his last one? (I’m unclear as to when he’ll receive his first one, this year or in 2026, in this hypothesis from Hell.) You heard what McEnany said, that the “libs will go crazy.” So there’s an admission that this is all theater, and this from a “news organization.” One that paid out $787.5 million for a defamation suit, I would gently remind. And the beat goes on.

Now in reality Trump is calling the shots on Israel and Iran’s doings like the Queen of England is still on the throne. It’s sheer fantasy, military science fiction as it were. But this is what Trump is selling his base. This is what the rubes are supposed to buy and the GOP is just fine with this. Oh, a few may have some semblance of a conscience. That may be why Lisa Murkowski is thinking of becoming and Independent. But for the rest of them? They’re scared shitless of Trump and being primaried. So they’ll go along with anything he dishes out.
This will get a whole lot crazier. And this move on Iran could end up backfiring badly, because everything Trump does is for short term game, never the long game. Logically, all that the ceasefire will do is allow Iran to re-arm itself and now it will re-arm itself with a vengeance. That’s all this idiot has accomplished. Because if there’s anybody who “doesn’t know what they fuck they’re doing” it’s him.
