Three new indie rock tunes to get you hyped for the weekend – Ear To The Ground Music

Amaury Laurent Bernier – “Too Early At the Party”
-I always appreciate when a song brings together different styles of rock for something that feels wholly original. I can say with utmost confidence that you’ve never heard anything quite like this track from Bernier. There are some Queen-like elements that create harmonic textures, but the percussive dynamics are strong as well. I’m not sure how much electronic influence there is here, but the song feels like a blend of old and new stylings to create something special. This is a vibey track that seems like it was tailor made to just relax and let it “hit” you.

Lauren Spring – “Self Soother”
-I don’t have live footage of my face when I first clicked on this song, but I kind of wish I did because I was pleasantly surprised. There’s a certain… intimacy to the style of the track that really resonated with me deeply. It’s a love song, to an extent, but it’s also a therapy session with a beat. I appreciate the dynamic melodic structure and the excellent electronic backing that creates significant emotional depth. Traditionalists might feel like it’s not pure rock, but it has guitars, drums, a solid beat, and an attitude that is about as tough as it gets. For me, this is indie rock done well. The production layers are fantastic and the lyrical concept is tenderly relatable. Give it a spin.

Fawn Ridge – “Hopelessly Hopeful”
-I had half a mind to feature this track on its own because it really is in a class of its own when it comes to rock. This feels as much like a pop folk tune as it does rock, but we’ll keep it here because it’s just so charming I want to feature the song today. The vocal has a softness to it that makes the listener feel instantly connected. The lyrical theme is about a sort of undeniable optimism. It’s clear that the writer has familiarity with the mid-20th century jazz-meets-rock style. In other words, I think this track could fit right in with some classic Sinatra or Dean Martin tunes. It has a timelessness to it that we’re happy to support here.
